Summary

The Warehouse Manager contributes to meeting Langham Logistics goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by overseeing and managing the process and personnel of the entire warehouse facility, including such specialized areas as including such specialized areas as Budgeting, Lean practices, engineered processes, Receiving/Fulfillment, and the Distribution Center office personnel.

The key goal of all warehouse operations is to meet client SLAs of receiving goods and materials into our warehouse, overseeing the performances of and quality requirements of picking, processing, shipping, and inventory control. The Warehouse Manager must ensure that this work is being done according to all client specifications as well as company requirements of productivity, quality, and profitability. The Warehouse Manager works closely with the Director to establish strategic goals for the building, including all applicable budgeting areas. The Warehouse Manager is instrumental in implementing and monitoring all policies regarding quality, safety, and employee supervision. The Warehouse Manager must pay particular attention to security requirements of the TSA, Homeland Security, and customers, ensuring the company will pass all audits and inspections.

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the effective development of employees in his/her departments, contributing to company goals of career pathing and personal and professional development. As in all Life Science facilities, this position needs to have a strong work ethic tailored to quality metrics. The goal is to manage the facility with a quality mindset.

Key Outcomes Expected

All Warehouse Managers are expected to work according to customer orders and specifications to meet SLAs and meet established quality and productivity metrics.

Operations:

  • Participate in Langham sponsored programs in assessing and implementing its personal and professional training program.

  • Provide leadership to all areas of the building, including customer service, productivity, quality, maintenance, engineering, safety, and security.

  • Display adherence to all security guidelines as mandated by the TSA, Homeland Security, and various customers to ensure Langham passes all audits and inspections.

  • Ensure departmental adherence to budget and budgetary restraints.

  • Manage all metrics and other benchmark measures to track warehouse performance.

  • Provide feedback to executive leadership regarding commonly occurring challenges in the warehouse operations and recommend ideas for resolution.

  • Manage all department supervisors to ensure all are operating according to all performance standards in an LMS system.

  • Ensure all department supervisors are adequately and competently staffed to meet daily customer workflows and requirements.

  • Work with the Sales and Operations Departments to provide assistance when quoting on prospective new business, planning new customer on-boarding, resolving customer issues and complaints.

  • Keep senior management updated on activity within the department through regularly scheduled briefings and emergency reporting when appropriate.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the transportation and warehousing industry from a logistics perspective

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret financial statements. Ability to analyze financial information, recognize trends, and make decisions. Can operate within a budget.

  • Able to prioritize, organize tasks and time, and follow up. Performs responsibilities efficiently and timely.

  • Effective management skills, including recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and terminating. Able to guide others towards professional development in the industry. Able to hold others accountable to performance and quality measurements.

  • Able to negotiate with and influence others and resolve conflict.

  • Understands WMS, LMS and QMS systems; also understands security systems and knowledge of TAPA is helpful.

  • Can work with the engineering team on Lean projects as well as LMS implementations.

  • Can understand Contracts SOWs, SLAs and how to dissect them to provide feedback.

  • Understands building layouts and HVAC systems with HMI support; Understands emergency protocols for HVAC units and generator operations

Education and Experience

  • 4-year Degree in Supply Chain Management (SCM), or a comparable discipline preferred

  • 5-10 years of experience in managing a facility

  • Life Science experience desired, but tenure as a manager could supersede this experience.

  • Understanding of WMS, LMS, and QMS systems

  • P/L experience
