As a Warehouse Lead, a typical day might include:

  • Utilizing the functions of the warehouse management system in order to perform daily tasks.

  • Assist with the efficient execution of, order filling, receiving, stocking, and returns based on shift assignment. May oversee shipping, operations (UPS, emergency orders, or general deliveries)

  • Complete advanced and complicated tasks requiring considerable judgment, independent analysis and decision making and detailed knowledge of the position and procedures.

  • Train associates according to SOPs and performs observations as needed.

  • Provides day-to-day tactical direction and guidance to Warehouse Associates.

  • Responsible for daily workloads.

  • Assist with inventory procedures

  • Comply with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and DEA regulations.

  • Provide work direction to Warehouse Associates in the absence of Supervisor.

  • Coordinating work flow with other departments in the Distribution Center.

  • Making recommendations on process flow and efficiencies.

  • Ability to read and understand the English language for the purpose of comparing and reading product descriptions, names and shelf labels.

  • possess basic mathematical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

  • Strong organizational skills; detail oriented.

  • Ability to use good judgment in order to carry out detailed instructions.

  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.

  • Applicants should be proficient on all battery powered equipment. IE, Cherry Picker, Reach Truck and Pallet Jack

SUMMARY: The Warehouse Lead is accountable for leading the day to day processes and successfully trouble shooting warehouse issues within their respective scope of management. Warehouse Leads are expected to accomplish their daily tasks in addition to managing high priority and complex customer issues through strong team coordination and follow-through. General hands-on duties may include one or more of the following tasks: receiving in product, stock put away, inventory management (cycle-count and rack confirmations), picking, packing, pulling, documenting and shipping customized orders, accurately and expeditiously; and in accordance with AS and ISO standards, as required. Areas of specialty or responsibility may include Electronic Products Group component parts warehousing, Facility departments or Government Kits, within a variety of warehouse environments. Warehouse Leads (within specific locations), may be responsible for running daily productivity reports, delegating assignments; and leading and assisting in locating appropriate product with a radio frequency system or an inventory data-base program. The Warehouse Lead will ensure the required quantities and sizes are pulled, counted, weighed and packaged; and the accurate documents are included for shipment. This fast-paced position consistently requires a high volume of productivity; with strong attention to detail to variances in product identification; ability to accurately understand and follow written specifications; perform data entry; and follow customized requirements with trained knowledge of quality standards and customer specifications. The Warehouse Lead may also be responsible to drive company vehicles to transport material to and from specified locations, as licensed; as well as assist warehouse management in training, leading, and mentoring less experienced levels of personnel. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain and apply accurate knowledge and understanding of Wesco Warehouse work instructions, policies, and procedures in all work practices and decisions Receive material from vendors and enter data in computer Perform stock put away functions by assigning and stocking product to assigned locations throughout the warehouse Perform timely cycle counts, stock transfers, and inventory audits to support an accurate inventory management system Lead and assist cycle-count and rack confirmations (as assigned) Compose paperwork/correspondence, analyze, troubleshoot, and reconcile inventory discrepancies Pull material from stock (using Radio Frequency (RF) system, if applicable), to fill orders and/or resolve inventory and customer discrepancies Use and/or oversee the utilization of scales to weigh and/or hand count product per warehouse/customer specifications Use and/or oversee the utilization label printer to prepare labels Lead or monitor packaging and preparation of products for shipment, ensuring: there are accurate product counts for the order received, and that customer specific requirements are met in the bagging and labeling the product Use and/or oversee the utilization of the carrier and third party shipping systems to ship product most efficiently Ensure remaining products are returned to the proper location Maintain and track status of customer orders, using a computer database system Maintain kit records, including but not limited to Kit Book set-up, modifications and amendments, per ISO and customer requirements (as required by functions of facility) Serve as a point of contact for Quality, Customer Service, and Sales with regards to product or kit issues, inquiries and progress/status, within areas of responsibility Utilize pallet jacks, drum dollys, drive forklifts, and/or order picker, when trained/certified Mentor and/or trouble-shoot with less experienced personnel to assist in resolving customer and/or product issues Perform daily order status reports (QBE); or run daily cycle count reports (as assigned) Run and print Stock Transfer (ST/OT) reports to ensure everything is being received in, by the Warehouse (as assigned) Provide monthly productivity numbers for functional areas of responsibility to appropriate management personnel Prepare and file employee training records conducted within department Maintain documentation of all quality stamps and records for AS and/or ISO certification, as applicable Ensure calibration and maintenance schedules are communicated appropriately to ensure compliance and safety for departmental equipment such as: scales, transport equipment, vehicles, etc. Operate Wesco vehicle to transport material to and from specified locations, as licensed, as assigned Obtain cross-training to assist in other Warehouse functions, as cross trained and required Communicate with team and set the example for established standards for quality, safety and productivity, and following established policies and procedures Attend regular and impromptu departmental meetings and company trainings, as required Support organizational and operations efforts to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations including OSHA, DOT, IATA, and RCRA (as applicable to the facility) REQUIREMENTS: * High School Diploma or GED * Recent, forklift certification training and current forklift license, is preferred * Valid driver's license and sustained acceptable driving record, may be required * Required 3-5 years warehousing experience in an aerospace environment or equivalent experience * Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, trouble shoot, and resolve warehouse issues successfully * Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate less-experienced warehouse personnel * Demonstrated ability to teach and train less experienced employees by utilizing multiple methods of training and resources (such as on the job training, reading materials, testing, etc.) to ensure compliance with Wesco Work Instructions, specific customer requirements, and safety requirements * Proven ability to be alert and aware of safety issues and safeguards, and apply safety standards * Excellent organizational and time-management skills * Clear and accurate data entry and documentation skills * Strong follow-through and perseverance to handle multiple tasks simultaneously * Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and ethically with both internal and external customers * Ability to be detailed oriented and perform in-depth research to investigate discrepancies as assigned * Ability to be cross-trained in multiple critical areas of the warehouse * Strong competency working with integrated data systems, Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook * Intermediate competency with Word and Excel (i.e., spreadsheets, formulas, importing and exporting of files, as applicable) * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with professional daily interaction with internal and/or external customers * Ability to work well within a team environment and independently, as needed * Ability to train and share knowledge of the integrated database systems, including Outlook, Word and Excel, as needed This position requires use of information which is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
