PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• To ensure that the work areas are designed to provide the proper tools needed to efficiently meet the customer demand.

• Works as part of a team dedicated to continuous improvement that works within company policy to meet customer requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design workflow with safety measures in mind due to industrial equipment use in a warehouse environment.

• Design material handling routes and layouts.

• Develop and maintain Control Plans, FMEA's, Process Flow Charts

• Reduce inefficiency in both personnel and W-I-P.

• Develop and support automated material handling applications.

• Emphasize and show commitment to continuous improvement. Monitor process to improve product flow.

• Provide accurate documentation of the area such as work instructions, visual aids and Bill of Materials.

• Layout workstations ergonomically ensuring work areas are equipped with the proper tools to produce the product effectively fool-proofing.

• Design warehouse racking layouts for safety, maximizing storage and efficient picking.

• Assist in training and leading the team in problem solving.

• Ensure packaging meets customer's specification.

• Work with the area supervisor to ensure product is moving smoothly.

• Develop interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees one-on-one to ensure complete understanding of World Class techniques.

• Determine assembly procedures with assistance of other departments.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Production Flow and Daily Output. Assist in planning the personnel and master schedule to meet our customer's current and future demands while maintaining the high level of product quality required by the customer/Gentex.

• Interface with other departments on the materials teams' behalf to ensure that the company quality standards and customer requirements are met.

• Provide resources and remove barriers allowing teams to be effective.

• Assist in work area designs and investigate possible tools for the workstation.

• Assist the area supervisors with process issues. Inform supervisor of any process changes that are suggested to operators.

• Work with production to resolve quality issues and customer rejects/RMA.

POSITION DEMANDS:

• 4 year college degree in a technical, scientific or related field preferred.

• Ability to communicate a full understanding of company policy.

• Work schedule must be suitable for production needs. Some travel required for customer and plant visits.

• Ability to communicate difficult issues with others.

• The ability to learn and network the organization.

• Responsible to establish personal working relationships to meet the needs of the materials work teams.

• This position is accountable directly to the Industrial Engineering Manager.

• This position is to work cooperatively with all departments to learn and promote the Gentex culture.
