Weekend Night Shift: 6:00 pm-6:30 am (Week 1 Fri-Sun) (Week 2 Thurs-Sun)

Job Description Summary:

The Sterilization Operator sterilizes medical devices received from the BD manufacturing sites around the world. Prepares and loads pallets of medical devices into the sterilization process. Makes regular transfers of product between the four different sterilization processes. Monitors the process control system to ensure all parameters are met throughout the entire process. Generates and interprets reports. Receives and stores raw materials. Makes regular manual verifications of product codes, lot numbers and quantities to releasing documents.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Receives and processes hazardous chemicals

  • Performs routine cleaning of processing equipment

  • Assists with inventory counting activities as required

  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate documentation of all manufacturing activities performed. Good GDP required

  • Monitors meters, gauges, temperatures, pressures, and related controls

  • Plans and controls timing of operations

  • Generates reports, graphs, and other data

  • Interprets complex drawings, diagrams, charts and specifications

  • Performs complex work to close tolerances, high quality and accuracy

  • Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements

  • Evaluates operating process equipment and implantation to ensure constant compliance with processing procedures

  • Uses independent judgment in troubleshooting and problem solving under little/no supervision

  • Provides support to lead and/or supervisor when necessary

  • May provide training support for on-boarding and/or new procedures

  • May provide support on special projects

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures

  • Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures

  • Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures

  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements

  • May be required to learn back up Team lead duties and responsibilities

  • Regular procedural training, comprehension and testing required

  • Regular technical training required.

  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School degree with 4 years manufacturing experience or AA science degree with 2 years' experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an FDA/Regulated environment.

Basic Skills:

  • Exhibit the ability to use independent judgment and demonstrated leadership

  • Possess the ability to communicate (oral/written) technical and non-technical information across the group and organization

  • Possess strong time management skills to complete assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Possess the ability to operate independently on semi-routine and routine activities

Proficient/Working Skills:

  • Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic

  • Demonstrate the ability to use personal computers

  • Possess the able to read, write, comprehend and interpret complex charts, drawings, diagrams, graphs and other data

  • Excellent scanning capabilities required

  • Requires forklift certification

  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs 50% to 95% of the workday.

  • Must be able to work in 100-125 degree temperatures 25% of the workday

  • Routine use of face shields, chemical gloves, aprons, steel-toed shoes, and respirators are required. Must be clean Shaven.

  • 12 hour shifts. 3 to 4 days per week
