SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the timely transfer of product from various locations to proper pick bins and designated warehouse locations. This position is also responsible for assisting in the timely and accurate receiving, tagging and storing of food and non-food products, in support of the instructions and objectives established by the Receiving Supervisor. This position is responsible for the physical maintenance of the loading docks and equipment. This position also maintains high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Performance of the following duties is done personally.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Safely unloads, counts/weighs labels and stores products effectively (when needed) to promote maximum warehouse space utilization and efficient distribution of products.

  • Maintain accurate vehicle inspection and temperature logs, and accurately account for CHEP and iGPS pallets to ensure pallet return accuracy.

  • Responsible for transferring product to proper locations, making sure all products are located to support the most efficient order picking.

  • Transfer product from Repack to Main Warehouse locations.

  • Performs WAP (Warehouse Activity Plan) replenishments each day, either as primary or back up when necessary.

  • Assembles Standard Distribution Order (SDO) and other Foodbank orders accurately, from stock, utilizing assigned pick lists and referring to product location, inner packing, description and quantity.

  • Assists with inventory cycle counting.

  • Provides superior customer service while accepting product from donors.

  • Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times. Ensures that empty pallets and production packaging are removed from aisle ways, cooler and freezer.

  • Provide housekeeping services for the warehouse areas and other areas, as scheduled, or necessary, to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and pest control.

  • Immediately reports to supervisor any repairs that are necessary or required on equipment or facility, ensuring that facility and equipment is properly maintained and is in good working condition.

  • Removes dangerous conditions prior to an accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill clean-up, etc.).

  • May be used to assist in pulling orders in main warehouse or pulling produce orders, as needed.

  • Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

N/A or description of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

HS Diploma/GED preferred. One to two years warehouse/material handling experience required. Previous shipping/receiving experience preferred. Tow motor certification required. Serve-safe certified, preferred. Required commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work environment as demonstrated through work, life or community experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

The physical requirements for this position include: Occasional ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to move about inside the office and to access truck cab and deliver product constantly. Ability to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery constantly. Ability to ascend/descend stairs to access work spaces frequently. Ability to position or move body to access filing cabinets or other work equipment constantly. Ability to constantly be able to exchange accurate information, take and give direction and hear safety warnings. Ability to constantly inspect product, judge distance between equipment, shelves and permanent structures. Ability to frequently detect spoiled product or quality of meals. Ability to move office equipment/supplies constantly. Ability to lift 50+ lbs on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary Range: $21.60 per hour
