What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.

Accountabilities in this role

  • Responsible for cross-training in multiple areas of the warehouse including Inbound and Outbound

  • Receive large boxes on warehouse dock, scan product with RF scanner, and input product information into computer

  • Break down cases of product and operate heavy equipment to replenish warehouse

  • Utilize voice to pick system to pick large case items with material handling equipment or to pick small unit of measure items and place on cart

  • Palletize large items to skid and wrap for shipment

  • Pack small items in boxes

  • Drive material handling equipment as required by job duty. Example equipment in the facility includes: order picker (cherry picker), forklift, reach truck, turret truck, pallet jack, and walkie rider

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • Good written communication skills

  • 1-2 years experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft office preferred

Job Description The successful Operations Learning Coordinator will contribute to our top goals to ensure that Nicholas & Company is the consistent first choice of our customers and team members. This position is responsible for creating and implementing learning activities for the Warehouse Operations teams, with a central focus on safety, accuracy and productivity. This action-oriented, detail focused individual will work closely with Operations management to develop and drive implementation of safety, productivity programs, and processes improvements to ensure the development of high performance teams. Strong coaching skills and the ability to gain the respect and trust of fellow team members will be key to effectively influencing the organization. As part of the Operations Performance Team, this position will champion Servant Leadership, the OZ Principle, EFOSA, Speed of Trust, E-learning and other tools, to support a culture of safety and high productivity, while developing all needed materials and learning programs. Duties and Responsibilities * Plans, implements and scorecards learning programs to train new and existing team members, delivering measurable results. * Is responsible for the successful onboarding of all new DSE team members. Will plan, execute and scorecard the first 3 weeks of the new DSE experience and provide a detailed summary of each new team member at the 3 week transition process. * Develops top goals, which should include: training of new team members, accident reduction, retention of team members, and coaching existing team members to high performance. * Assists with accident investigations, prevention and tracking, and participates as a member of the Nicholas Safety Committee. * Assists in ensuring compliance with pertinent company policies and procedures as well as state, federal, OSHA regulations through training activities and provides training documentation to the Safety & Compliance Manager as needed. * Conducts regular training needs analyses designs and execute training programs based on those needs. Interact with dept. leaders to measure impact/effectiveness of training. * Strong Presentation Skills - must be able to provide clear direction, present in a variety of settings, utilize time management skills, be flexible and apply adult learning principles. * Plans, performs, and implements process improvement initiatives as well as Best Business Practices with a focus on ROA, UPH, and Safety. * Coaching: ability to diagnose trainees skill level & determine root cause needs for development, coach on performance & behavioral issues, provide encouraging and constructive feedback. * Plans, implements and scorecards learning programs to train new and existing team members, delivering measurable results. * Orchestrate multiple activities, collaborate with team members proactively, develops effective training content, agendas & workshops. * Model Servant Leadership through personal & professional values, align department goals with corporate strategy, develop effective relationships, and build team synergy within & across all departments. * Teamwork: Combine forces as a team player, gain trust & support of peers, find common ground & provide solutions, diffuse high-tension situations successfully, marshal resources (people, material, support) to get things done. * Conducts productivity and safety training proactively, and monitors progress of all new team members, coaching them to success. Provide recommendations to management on a regular basis. * Assists in the administration, scoring, and promotion of the PROS program. * Provides support and vacation coverage for the Night Warehouse Supervisor position as required by Night Warehouse Manager. * Will cross train with and provide support for the Operations Learning Coordinator: Transportation position. * All other duties and assignments as directed by Operations Learning Manager or Director of Warehouse Operations. Requirements * Attention to detail, self-motivated, positive attitude, and the ability to communicate and coordinate with others by building consensus among those involved. * 3 years experience in a warehouse and distribution environment (foodservice experience preferred) * High school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to work effectively, both independently, and as a member of a team. * Must demonstrate excellent follow through with ability to interface with multiple departments and individuals. * Interpersonal and communications skills are vital, with strong organizational skills. * Ability to work flexible hours to include night shifts and Saturdays. * May have to lift up to 80 pounds. * Regular multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, emergencies, or time pressures. * Ability to identify Team Member learning styles and adapt to ensure learning transfers and motivates. * Ability to clearly communicate ideas and thoughts on training, procedure, or process. * Self-directed, able to take initiative, problem solve, and exercise independent judgment. * Make timely decisions using sound judgment, and reconciling competing interests. * Basic computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail as well as basic math. * Must be willing to travel as required.
