Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for specialized warehouse tasks in loading, unloading, order pulling, shipping, returns, forklift, fabrication, counter, or may have a generalized role working in all departments.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Complete tasks such as loading, unloading, sorting, picking, stocking, staging, fabrication, and transportation of goods.

  • Load and unload materials to and from designated storage area, such as racks, shelves, or vehicles. Stack or pile materials, such as lumber, boards, or pallets.

  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.

  • Verify computations against physical count of stock.

  • Maintains condition of work area (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.). Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same.

  • Receive and fill orders or sell supplies, materials, and products to installers and subcontractors.

  • May drive truck to pick up incoming stock or deliver materials to designated locations or operate forklift or other machinery in order to complete tasks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

  • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

  • Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort,

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED, strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

The Warehouse Associate I in the Shipping area is responsible for specialized outbound distribution tasks, including, but not limited to: sorting, palletizing, shrinkwrapping pallets, moving pallets, and loading pallets onto trailers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs or more on a consistent basis.

  • Attention to detail or the ability to easily identify differences on labels or SKUs.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Willingness to work in multiple departments as assigned.

VIEW JOBS 1/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-12T00:00 Warehouse Associate Columbus, OH Kelly Services is currently seeking to fill multiple Warehouse Associate positions for one of our top pharmaceutical / medical manufacturers in Columbus, OH As a Warehouse Associate placed with Kelly Services, you will be responsible for performing a variety of warehouse-related duties such as receiving and storage of goods, preparing orders for shipment by picking items from shelves and placing them in totes, and ensuring that orders are filled accurately and efficiently. Pay rate for this assignment is $15.00-$17.00 per hour. This is a temporary assignment with the possibility of extension. Tentative start date of September 2018. Anticipated Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm Additional responsibilities include: * Verifies merchandise received against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and any obvious damages. * Stocks shelves with various types of merchandise. * Rotates stock so that newly-received items can be used last. * Prepares orders for shipment by pulling items from shelves and placing them in totes to be packed and sent to customers. * Processes and performs data entry of returns; also returns merchandise to proper shelf in the warehouse. * Performs daily counting and researching of discrepancies. * Assists with inventory procedures as requested. * Order fulfillment, stocking and replenishment, and outbound shipping of customer orders. * Maintains a clean work area to help ensure that merchandise remains clean and to help prevent work related injuries. * Complies with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and DEA regulations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Requires a HS diploma, 1+ years of warehouse and/or order fulfillment experience, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. * Knowledge and experience using a wrist-mounted warehouse controller unit preferred. * Must be a team player and demonstrate effective communication and problem-solving skills. * Maintain appropriate attendance standards. * Have a good overall understanding of DC workflow and can work with minimal guidance. SKILLS: * Ability to read and understand the English language for the purpose of comparing and reading product descriptions, names and shelf labels. * Must possess basic mathematical skills. * Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. * Strong organizational skills; detail oriented. * Ability to use good judgment in order to carry out detailed instructions. * Basic computer knowledge preferred. * Ability to operate power equipment at high levels such as reach trucks, picker machines, etc. Why Kelly?
