We currently have an opportunity for a highly motivated team player as an Operations Associate in the picking department at our distribution center in Dallas, TX.
In this role, you will start out in our outbound department where you will help to pick, pack and load orders onto trucks. Using a reach truck, dock stocker or order picker, you will utilize an RF scan gun to accurately pick products from our warehouse inventory system then pack material on a pack lane so it can be shipped to our customers. You will be expected to work on a packing line or dock lane packing orders, in addition to picking using a forklift.
This position is very fast paced, we expect you to be proactive and continuously process orders. Additionally, you will be expected to cross train in other departments to help grow your career and ensure our customers' orders are processed on time. You can expect to work in several departments per shift to help expedite customer orders.
In addition to the description above, this role will be responsible for:
High quality, best in class, wire and cable processing
Operating machinery to process wire and cable, including computers and scan guns
Picking material per customer order
Verifying, checking in and putting away inventory
Packing material on pack lines or shipping docks
Maintaining inventory and service levels to meet all necessary customer requirements and delivery deadlines
Stock replenishment and cycle counting
Use barcode scanner to scan and signal empty bins
Handle material shortage requests
Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers
Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to lift, bend, reach, push, pull, twist, squat and walk throughout an entire shift.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, generally an entire shift (8+ hours per day).
Demonstrated and prior experience operating forklifts and/or other powered industrial equipment.
Demonstrated math, counting, reading and writing skills.
What it will take to be successful in this role (Qualifications):
At least 6 months prior work experience.
Stable work history. We're looking for good people who want to stick around for a while and be part of our Anixter family.
Forklift experience is preferred, but not required.
Must have determination, sense of urgency, strong customer focus, willingness to work hard.
Although preferred, warehouse experience not required. We're willing to train you if you are genuinely interested in a career with us.
You need to be reliable with a good attendance record. Our customers and your coworkers depend on you to be at work every day.
