One Part Time Ward Clerk.
Under the direction and guidance of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse or other designee, assists other members of the health care team in delivering non-nursing and clerical functions in order to support health, life, and the equality of life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Coordinates activities at the nursing station and performs non-nursing and clerical functions on an intra and inter-departmental level.
Initiates guest relations and welcomes patients/families to unit, sets up patient room supplies and orients patient and family to facility environment and routine
Restocks and performs other clerical functions
Reports changes in patient status to nurse
Records entries on daily flow sheets and documents as required per departmental policies and procedures
May maintain unit equipment, ensuring equipment is clean, stored in the appropriate storage area, and ready for use
Removes defective equipment from service and reports any non-working or unsafe equipment or facility fixtures
Assembles patient charts and maintains charts with appropriate forms, enters physician orders, files reports, assures all forms are in correct order, audits medical record for completeness
Manages telephone, fax, and electronic messaging
Perform additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS
High School or equivalent required plus a minimum 6 months clerical experience, preferably in a
healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical Terminology Course preferred.
