PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Global Corporate Office Network Service team manages the internal corporate office networks for more than 200 locations at SAP. The team is responsible for the end to end delivery of the data network services in SAP's Internal Corporate Network.
SAP is looking to further strengthen our Office Network support team in the Americas. We are looking for an experienced network engineer with solid knowledge across a variety of network technologies with a focus on Cisco routing and switching. Your primary tasks include the design, deployment, operation and continuous improvement of the global network infrastructure for our global WAN, Internet and LAN services using managed services providers. Close cooperation with other Regional Core Network Services team colleagues will be required to ensure that the network infrastructure is delivered in accordance with business requirements and global standards. To achieve these goals, you will provide a mix of hands on skill and work with second and/or third line support and implementation, including 3rd party resources.
In addition to these core tasks you will also be expected to support the technical and process design activities by lending subject matter expertise and feeding back regional requirements to global design architects.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Work as a part of our Global team to deploy, operate, monitor and maintain the global network infrastructure. Migrate services to a managed WAN provider. Following implementation, interface as needed.
Coordinate the installation, configuration, deployment and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls and other network equipment using 3rd party implementation staff. This is NOT a single person operation. Ensure compliance of network infrastructure to global standards
Ensure that service and operations level agreement are met. Responsible for third/fourth line incident support. Work closely with our L1-L3 Managed Service Providers and ensure the service meets business requirements
Provide subject matter expertise in the design of network services with a focus on Cisco Routing and Switching
Carry out network capacity planning, network performance monitoring, trending and reporting to ensure that network services match business requirements. Investigate and evaluate new network technologies. Design and deploy solutions based on those technologies
Work closely with and manage our vendor relationship on a regional basis
Deploy and maintain executive and other special networks, requiring delicate handling
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering or equivalent working knowledge
Excellent knowledge of design and operations of Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching, preferably Cisco Networks. A brief list of hardware includes:
Routing: Cisco series 29xx, 39xx ASR1002, ASR9001
Switching: Cisco series 37xx, 38xx, 39xx, 4500, 65xx
Strong knowledge in OSPF, BGP routing protocols. Working knowledge of Wireless (Aruba), Acceleration (Cisco WAAS), Firewall (Palo Alto Networks), DNS, DHCP platforms and Network Access Control.
Analytical thinking and problem solving, with autonomous and proactive working behavior
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced and multi-cultural organization
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language
Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities
Flexible attitude towards working hours to work as part of the global team
Ability to participate in on call process and respond to issues and projects when needed, even after normal working hours.
Ability to communicate directly with end users and customers at various levels of technical abilities with professionalism
Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching or proven equivalent knowledge
