The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Clinician is responsible for providing clinical interventions tailored to the customer-owner needs and prepare them for participation in learning circles.

This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in behavioral health field including Counseling, Psychology or Social Work; OR PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.

  • Obtain Alaska Clinical Licensure in designated field within three (3) years of hire.

Additional Qualifications for Clinician II: Meets all requirements of Clinician I in addition to the following:

  • Two (2) years of supervised clinical work experience for Master's level Behavioral Health; OR two (2) years of post-graduate clinical experience for PhD or PsyD level; OR demonstrated proficiency as a Clinician I at SCF.

  • Current Alaska Clinical Licensure in designated field.

The Department of Health and Social Services, Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician III (Forensic Psychologist) API operates as Alaska's only state-owned, inpatient psychiatric hospital that provides: * Acute, short-term in-patient psychiatric care for patients whose needs are so great or complex that an appropriate level of care cannot be provided in their home town or community * Court-ordered Competency Restoration programming for a medium security Forensic Unit Key Responsibilities This position requires a licensed or License-eligible psychologist to serve as a Forensic Evaluator for the State of Alaska responsible for conducting forensic psychological evaluations as ordered by the Courts. * Conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations at local correctional facilities and at API * Diagnose mental disorders of criminal defendants * Serve as an expert witness for the State of Alaska providing testimony regarding the psychological evaluation of defendants. * Conduct both adult and juvenile forensic psychological assessments. * This position may require occasional overnight travel to communities outside of the Anchorage area in order to provide in-person court testimony * Provide clinical supervision to trainees Qualifications: * This position MUST be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Alaska. Post-doctoral candidates who are eligible for a temporary license while obtaining supervised hours toward independent license also will be considered. * Superior assessment, diagnostic and report-writing skills * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with judges, attorneys, and the public * Familiarity with both severe mental illness and developmental disabilities * Ability to diagnose mental disorders consistent with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders * Ability to integrate clinical and factual data and with applicable legal standards * Ability to administer and interpret psychological tests * Knowledge of Alaska law regarding competency and culpability * Ability to work effectively and in a professional manner when under stress and confronted with tight deadlines Please note: * This position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check. * While the State of Alaska classification system usually permits a master's degree for a MHC III position, because of the requirements of this role, the individual in this position MUST have a doctoral degree in psychology.
