Job Description:

Central Sterile Processing provides sterilized supplies to the entire hospital. Central Sterile Coordinator need to have a familiarity with sterilization methods and practices as well as a general knowledge of sterile technique.

• 70% Cleaning, sterilizing, preparing, and organizing surgical packs. The surgery packs must be made according to the clinicians specifications to include labels, dates, and initials. Reports missing or broken instruments to the supervisor. Maintains and cares for specialty surgical equipment.
• 20% Day to day operations of the Central Sterile Unit, including but not limited to inventories instruments, implants, packs, equipment, and supplies weekly. Washing soiled scrubs, towels, and other medical apparel. Enters supply charges into computer for appropriate billing and record keeping.
• 5% Providing scrubs to clinicians as needed through the Central Sterile window.
• 5% In the absence of student workers or full-time Hospital Supply personnel, assist with departmental supply orders. Assist student workers identify supply items as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience of applicable experience OR 5 Years of experience in a working environment with similar duties OR 2 years of experience as a Central Supply Coordinator at the LSU SVM

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Per PS 18- This position is a part of the Emergency Response Personnel - these personnel are linked with the hospital during any emergency response event and are expected to report in and perform as outlined in the emergency response plan.

Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position is subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67*

Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (near sight), vision (far sight), kneel or sit on the floor, push/pulling, climbing, grasping, crawling bending, squatting, and/or twisting.

This position will provide coverage for Central Supply within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as needed at an employment effort not to exceed an average of 29 hours per week.
