We're looking for a vulnerability intelligence intern to join our team in Austin, TX for the Spring 2018 semester. This role is responsible for improving and creating a tool to support Trend Micro's vulnerability intelligence efforts. The vulnerability intelligence capability leverages globally-distributed vulnerability research and threat sensors to deliver actionable guidance to the product teams inside Trend Micro. The intern role will improve a tool to automate vulnerability discovery and analysis. Optionally, the role can involve the publication of relevant content as blogs, white papers, or presentations.

Duties & Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for improving a tool to automate vulnerability discovery and analysis. The role requires collaboration with vulnerability analysts and reverse engineers as well as integration with a DevOps philosophy that includes deploying code rapidly, frequently, reliably, and securely. "Infrastructure as code" is an organization-wide goal and management is committed to realizing it.


  • Coursework in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, information security, or related fields.

  • Experience writing Ruby and/or Python - experience under a DevOps environment is a plus.

  • Experience with Python on both Microsoft Windows and Linux OSes is a plus.

  • Experience with C/C++ or assembly.

  • Experience debugging binaries.

  • Experience using windbg and/or IDA are strong plusses.

  • Experience with VMWare Fusion or Workstation.

  • Experience using, or developing for, fuzzers or reverse engineering tools is a strong plus.

  • Experience with Windows scripting (batch, Powershell, vbscript) is also a plus.

  • Experience with computer networking and use of Wireshark (etc) is a plus.

  • Experience with Kali Linux is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications * Previous internship experience is a plus. * Course experience in hardware architecture, digital logic, analog circuits, electrical testing, hardware verification. * Experience with board level soldering and use of lab equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.) is preferred. * Board level troubleshooting experience is a plus. * Demonstrated leadership skills (served in leadership role in student organization).
