Job Summary

The Vulnerability Analyst will be responsible for analyzing vulnerabilities, developing and tracking mitigation plans, coordinating security fixes with technical teams and systems owners, and producing reports to help drive down security risk. This position will work closely with operations teams to facilitate remediation activities, and with management to articulate the risk posed by outstanding vulnerabilities. A successful candidate will be able to identify and assess attack vectors and system impacts to ensure the proper prioritization of activities focused on driving down risk.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed vulnerability analysis to ensure the effective mitigation of security risks

  • Provide actionable reports and technical guidance to teams responsible for deploying security fixes

  • Coordinate multiple action plans and track to completion, including the facilitation of a formalized policy exception process if applicable

  • Develop risk rating definitions to allow for accurate allocation of resources

  • Monitor vulnerability feeds and triage based on criticality

  • Assist with managing vulnerability scanner scheduling and reports

  • Identify opportunities to enhance patch management activities by recommending technical improvements

  • Coordinate with operational teams to ensure adequate coverage of sensitive systems through the integration of vulnerability scanners

  • Analyze and evaluate vulnerability management technologies

  • Produce vulnerability metrics for technical teams and senior leadership

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent field required

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Information Technology

  • Three (3) years in Information Security

  • Strong working knowledge of attack vectors and risk rating methods

  • Strong analytical skills

  • High level of proficiency with server and network device operating systems

  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning technologies

  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing requirements

  • Resourceful with strong creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts
