Dreamscape Learn (DSL) is a collaborative venture between Dreamscape Immersive and Arizona State University, merging the most advanced experiential pedagogy with the entertainment industry's best cinematic storytelling to deliver unique virtual reality (VR) and 2D labs and full course experiences which are demonstrably efficacious, readily scalable and emotionally engaging. These VR labs combine the emotional power of Hollywood storytelling, the visceral excitement of theme park rides, and an extraordinary mix of full body tracking and interactivity to create stories and worlds that push the limits of what is possible in virtual reality.

We're seeking a creative, self-motivated, and collaborative VR Programmer. This opportunity could be an ideal fit if you possess a strong passion for creating and delivering cutting-edge educational products and solutions, encompassing virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. Under general direction, the VR Programmer will take on a variety of tasks, both independently and in collaboration with other artists, game developers, project leads, and other stakeholders, using emerging technology tools and artificial intelligence to create new story-driven experiences. This individual will transform creative ideas into best-in-class VR experiences.

For the first three months, this position will be required to travel to Los Angeles up to 5 days per week for comprehensive training facilitated by the expert LA Dreamscape Learn team. These business trips will be at ASU's expense subject to travel policies and procedures found here.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with others to come up with creative solutions, identify constraints, and to provide feasibility recommendations.

  • Work under the direction of project leads to develop tools, create game features, improve core functionality, and fix bugs within existing frameworks.

  • Analyze performance and implement optimizations in both high and low-level code.

  • Improve core technologies by testing, debugging, and integrating SDK updates as necessary, communicating with development teams to solve problems and improve processes along the way.

  • Collaborate with the Design and Engineering team to meet operational requirements and ensure proper integration of experience haptics.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the various software and hardware stages of the system to troubleshoot any problems.

  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 1 year of developing in game engines, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Experience using Unity.

  • Experience with Dreamscape Learn's SDK platform.

  • Evidence of strong C# skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented and/or data-oriented programming.

  • Experience with version control software such as Perforce, Plastic, SVN, Git, Bit Bucket.

  • Experience and being comfortable integrating art and functionality in engine.

  • Experience with Project Management Tools such as Jira, Shotgun, Trello, etc.

  • Evidence of ability to adapt quickly to new coding environments and programming standards.

  • Experience building educational content.

  • Evidence of ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently.

  • Evidence of ability to work independently, and in a team environment.

  • Evidence of ability to adapt to changing creative direction.

Working Environment

This positions work location is Tempe Campus.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

$75,000 - $105,000 per year; DOE
