Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity within our Transportation organization to lead one of the largest motor carrier fleets in North America. The Vice President of Transportation for our Private Fleet is responsible for leading and delivering all aspects of a safe and successful trucking operations for multiple product lines within CHS. This includes grain, agronomy, propane, crude, refined fuels, and animal nutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all aspects of the CHS private fleet including optimization, utilization, asset management and maintenance.

  • Implement efficiencies across driver and asset populations by taking an enterprise view of transportation.

  • P&L owner responsible for acquisition of assets and lifecycle management

  • Oversight of company owned maintenance facilities and the productivity of each location.

  • Must be a strong leader of change with the ability to influence at all levels and inspire confidence among all team members, including senior leaders.

  • Ensure the private fleet effectively aligns with all product lines, end-to-end supply chain, and the organization's strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure the fleet maximizes utilization and services customers through peak and non-peak seasons.

  • Establish operational practices for all aspects of motor carrier fleet operations, including safety, compliance, customer service, and maintenance.

  • Provide financial benefits by enabling drivers to service all products and customers.

  • Lead the motor carrier fleet and dispatch activities while championing a culture of safety and service.

  • Deploy new system capabilities, service offerings, and risk mitigation strategies for the truck fleet.

  • Deliver operational excellence and optimization with the proper cost management and pricing strategy to maximize the benefits for internal and external CHS stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Completed bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics or supply chain.

  • 12+ years of experience leading a large motor carrier fleet operation.

  • Prior leadership experience with advancing level of leadership responsibilities.

Additional Qualifications

  • Significant knowledge and experience in agricultural commodity trading, risk management, logistics and execution with a strong understanding of how this relates to truck transportation.

  • Demonstrated asset management strategy execution, including fleet right-sizing, daily usage patterns, scheduling, and route optimization.

  • Broad knowledge and experience with analytics to drive meaningful decisions within fleet optimization and productivity.

  • Proven strong knowledge of successful truck operations' compliance, safety, mechanical, and financial attributes.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with proven experience and change leadership

  • Experience working in a matrix organization.

Physical Requirements

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
