The VP of Search Engine Marketing will be a thought and strategic leader within the organization, and also be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and communicating results and insights to share within the organization. As we grow our business, it is instrumental that we understand user behavior as we work to drive conversion rates within our platform and leverage that data, coupled with your insight and experience, to ensure we position our ads effectively show the right ads to the right users at the right times.
In this role, you will deeply understand our current SEM strategy, and leverage your knowledge of the space to take a step back and help design the right long term experience for these users, from audience selection, to targeting, to the creative they receive. However, you will also have the spirit of an experimenter, and be able to quickly iterate on your ideas, balancing effort and reward, with the 80/20 rule a core principle you follow. But, in all things, you will be data driven at heart, leveraging core statistical principles to help us separate the signal from the noise, and ensure our decisions are backed with analytical rigor.
Act as a strategic consultant to help design sustainable strategies for acquiring the right consumers at the right times to fuel our business
Uncovering and executing upon opportunities for short and long-term growth
Question the status quo of our SEM strategy and performance
Leverage solid statistical principles and design tests to improve our understanding of how and why users interact with our ads and ultimately convert within our platform
Optimize programs to drive both desktop and mobile site traffic and conversion
Develop SEM strategy, standards, and best practices and deliver insights on performance
Track, report, and analyze results
Stay ahead of trends and industry changes
Prioritize projects and develop roadmaps for execution
Implement recommendations, developing timeline and working with development and product teams
7+ years experience working hands-on with search marketing and exposure to SEM and 4+ years experience leading teams
Detailed understanding of paid search bidding and keyword strategies and/or link-building and traffic acquisition
Experience with landing page and conversion optimization from search
Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEM
An analytical mind degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, related field OR demonstrated analytical and technical ability
A proven track record of turning business problems into business solutions using data, automation, and statistics
A strong ability to work cross-functionally to shepherd complex projects involving multiple stakeholders to completion on time and within spec
Understanding of core statistical concepts, including Hypothesis Testing, confidence intervals probability distributions, time series analysis
Practical knowledge of SQL, and experience using structured query language to extract data from databases, including joining tables when necessary
Experience with analytical toolsets (e.g. R or Python)
Previous experience with Search Engine Marketing advertising and Search Engine Marketing advertising platforms (e.g. Google AdWords, Bing Ads)
