We are seeking an entrepreneurial, high-energy VP, Sales to join our team and build the Arcadia Power sales function from the ground up. The VP, Sales is a new position that will play an instrumental, transformational role in our revenue generation & business innovation, making an immediate impact by sourcing and closing big deals while also creating the long-term foundation for groundbreaking partnerships and revenue streams that dont exist in the industry today. In addition to being a smart, creative, proven sales leader, the ideal candidate is intimately familiar with & well-networked in the energy ecosystem; thrives on ambiguity, complexity, and the chance to create with no blueprint; and can simultaneously execute on sales targets while crafting a vision and strategy for the future. The VP, Sales should be inspired by Arcadia Powers mission, excited about our growth, and passionate about the opportunity to create value for our partners and customers.

This role reports to the COO and is based in Washington, D.C. with frequent travel expected & the potential to work remote for the right candidate. The VP, Sales will be a highly visible, key senior leadership position for the company and will work particularly closely with the executive, product, marketing, and legal teams as well as many others across the organization. The VP, Sales will, over time, build and lead a lean team of sales, strategy, and account management professionals, and should have a history of effectively managing direct reports and motivating them to achieve sales goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead the entire sales process, including but not limited to strategy & account planning, deal sourcing, pipeline management, negotiation & deal structuring, and closing new B2B2C business
  • Cultivate strong, mutually beneficial relationships with both incumbent & emerging key players across the energy industry, including but not limited to solar developers, utilities, energy wholesalers, and smart home/IoT/hardware providers
  • Proactively identify, seize, and create opportunities to generate & scale revenue through new categories, channels, partnerships, offerings, etc.
  • Build, lead, and set an example for a lean, accountable, ambitious, and high-performing sales & account management team
  • Be a strong voice to amplify Arcadia Powers brand and value proposition externally and internally
  • Serve as a collaborative senior leader for the company

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive & successful experience building and leading sales functions in the energy space (a background in solar or clean energy preferred)
  • History of structuring, closing, and managing complex, seven-figure-plus deals
  • Highly connected and respected within the energy ecosystem; intimately familiar with the energy industry, key players, competitors, and micro & macro trends
  • Intellectual horsepower, imagination, and vision: the VP, Sales must think broadly, strategically, and flexibly about how Arcadia Power can leverage our unique position in the market to access opportunities off-limits to traditional energy companies
  • Outstanding influence and persistence; ability to not only think big but inspire others to buy into the vision
  • Impeccable communication and people skills
  • Ability and intent to travel frequently to meet with clients and achieve sales goals

What Success Looks Like: * Execute on multi-year plans for shaping public policy and regulatory strategy for Transamerica in alignment with Aegon companies. * Coordinate relationships with internal and external constituencies, key domestic and international industry associations, state legislators and international supervisors, Congressional staff and Executive Branch officials. * Network with industry peers and build a better understanding of advocacy, grassroots, lobbying strategy in the United States and internationally. * Manage direct reports. * Prepare and organize forums and gatherings with government officials and internal stakeholders to exchange ideas and information on business activities and potential legislation that impact Transamerica and Aegon companies. * Attend daily meetings at Transamerica's member association's offices, state offices, on Capitol Hill or the Executive Branch. * Coordinate with member associations lobbying on behalf of Transamerica and Aegon companies. * Prepare policy briefings, testimony for pending legislative actions, and provide thought leadership and recommendations from a domestic and international position. * Monitor, analyze and report on key government policy and legislation. * Represent Transamerica and Aegon's position on key domestic and international policy issues. * Work collaboratively with company division executives to shape advocacy positions on policy issues. What You Need: * Advanced degree in government, international affairs, public policy, or related discipline * 12 years of professional experience at the intersection of business, government, and international policy * Thorough understanding of the structure, organization and complexities of financial services regulatory bodies in the U.S., and EU. * Extensive network of professional contacts in states, U.S. government, and internationally * Experience and understanding of insurance issues and the workings of state government, Capitol Hill, and Executive Branch agencies. * Track record of influencing domestic and international policy * Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels * Understanding of grassroots initiatives and working with a political action committee * Strong and experienced skills in management * Excellent research and analytical skills * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Excellent organizational skills * Strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen * Ability and willingness to work across multiple time zones, countries and cultures Preferred Qualifications * Law degree or MA in Political Science or International Affairs What You Receive: A Comprehensive Wealth + Health package.
