Develops strategic direction for MUSIC's Western region including Brokerage and CB business to ensure profitable growth within all territories. Ensures coordination between home office and regional underwriting.
Works closely with the actuarial department in developing appropriate pricing strategies. Creates strong working relationships with underwriting, claims, actuarial, Government and Industry Affairs departments. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Works with President of MUSIC and Underwriting managers to prepare premium plan budget. Evaluates market conditions, line of business and segment profitability, retention, rate, diversification and market planning to ensure profitable growth.
Provides analysis of all premium plan budget variances. Identifies and implements needed actions.
Develop and maintain relationship between Selective retailers and MUSIC wholesalers/brokers to create and continue to enhance profitable synergies between the two channels.
Ensures compliance with company's underwriting and claims philosophy and procedures.
Evaluates and gives guidance to staff on an ongoing basis as to their abilities and duties and makes personnel recommendations to insure proper and optimum use of personnel. Ensures continuous professional development of staff. Evaluates personnel for underwriting authority and insures they are in compliance with those authority levels.
Participates with senior management in annual meetings, producer council meetings and internal conferences, as well as conducts regular agency visits for the region.
Prepares expense plan budget for MUSIC Western region and monitors and controls the region's expenses. Provides analysis of all expense plan budget variances. Identifies and implements needed actions.
Works in collaboration with President of MUSIC and Actuarial on all pricing reviews to ensure growth and profitability.
Establishes procedures and controls to ensure accomplishment of service standards. Mediates and resolves insurance department, agents and consumer complaints.
10+ years of recent underwriting and/or agency management experience.
5+ years of supervisory/management experience.
Requires strong problem solving skills.
Excellent sales, negotiation, networking and presentation skills.
College degree preferred.
Loss Control experience a plus!
