Provides direction and overall strategy for Clinical and Quality initiatives in collaboration with AmSurg Executive Team and Operations Senior Management Team. Oversees Clinical Operations, Quality, Patient Safety, Clinical Risk Management, Accreditation, Regulatory and Patient Experience. Aligns Clinical and Quality services with AmSurg strategies and goals. Leads execution of improvement strategies.
Lead Quality Support Services (Clinical, Quality Risk Management, Accreditation, Regulatory, Patient Experience, Policy Support)
Set goals, establish priorities and align goals appropriately.
Set and communicate direction clearly.
Facilitate development and implementation of center and corporate policies and procedures.
Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations and standards of accrediting organizations (AAAHC and the Joint Commission) pertaining to ambulatory surgery centers.
Establish and maintain quality reporting and analytic systems in collaboration with other corporate departments
Facilitate Planning for Quality Services
Encourage critical thinking so that plans are well developed and executed.
Explore the thinking behind strategies; challenge solutions by examining problem; follow up on execution.
Evaluate the results of the strategies and communicate to others.
Oversee development of tools and resources that support improvement, regulatory compliance and service excellence.
Lead Corporate Quality Assurance Committee
Leadership over and responsibility for designing and implementing core operating strategies, structures and processes that position the company for long term success including but not limited to:
Promotion of Patient Safety
Risk Reduction and Prevention
Accreditation and regulatory survey readiness and performance
Demonstration of quality performance through data systems and analysis
Partnering with other Corporate departments to provide systems, processes, and communication that add value to centers
Partnering with Marketing and Communications and Human Resources for the creation of clinical services educational and communication programs.
Position AmSurg as a leader in ASC industry, including active participation in the ASC Quality Collaboration
Improve overall performance of AmSurg
Communicate success and failures appropriately throughout organization.
Enhance visibility of quality metrics performance throughout the organization
Monitor performance throughout the year and communicate results; facilitate and monitor correction as needed.
Develop budget and monitor performance
Support Operations in achieving efficiencies and financial performance
Collaborate with Physician Leaders, including Medical Staff Lead and Physician Advisory Board members
Participate in the development and dissemination of corporate initiatives
Assume responsibility for communication and execution of corporate initiatives.
Provide input to the appropriate individuals to contribute to the development of corporate initiatives.
Apply critical thinking and communicate with Executive team to insure consistency for AmSurg and enable effective evaluation of results.
Align performance goals of clinical services with corporate initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Licensed as an RN with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in a senior management role is required. Master's degree from an accredited college or university and ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.
Ability to understand, read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public.
Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors. Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
