The VP, Portfolio Manager supports the assigned lending division by underwriting new credit facilities and managing a portfolio of existing relationships. Working closely with Client Managers and Credit Administration, the Portfolio Manager prepares written submissions of prescreens and credit approvals to Credit Administration and renewal and modification of existing loan facilities. The Portfolio Manager will also manage a portfolio of existing relationships including renewal and modification of loan facilities, assessment and recommendation of risk ratings, the completion of trend cards and problem loan reporting, the ongoing collection of financial statements and testing of financial covenants, as well as the monitoring of loan files to ensure compliance with policy and guidelines. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the assigned lending unit.


  • Responsible for completing a thorough and independent credit and financial analysis including the preparation and presentation of loan prescreens and loan underwriting packages for loan approval by Credit Administration.

  • Interact and maintain relationships with clients and outside third parties in the collection of information and documentation needed for prescreens, underwriting, and ongoing portfolio management including financial reporting and covenant compliance.

  • With supervision from the Credit Products Manager and Senior Portfolio Manager, may underwrite and manage of the divisions more complex credit facilities.

  • Work with Loan Processing and Loan Servicing to ensure all client-related documentation and administrative issues are resolved on a timely basis and review loan documentation to ensure documents are accurate and consistent with credit approval.

  • Work closely with CAST (Credit Analysis Support Team) to ensure financial ticklers are cleared, financial spreads completed, and financial covenants are tested.

  • Actively monitor the portfolio and complete trend cards and annual reviews as well as problem loan status reports to Credit Administration.

  • Remain up-to-date of changing business, economic, and regulatory developments which impact the loan portfolio and lending division.

  • Responsible for adherence to all compliance programs, including but not limited to, completion of all required and assigned training modules by establishing due dates.

  • Understand and employ all policies and procedures of the Bank and the Line of Business and complies with requirements of all laws and regulations applicable to position.

  • May perform other duties as assigned including travel for diligence meetings.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of financial accounting, loan structuring, and loan documentation as well as excellent credit analysis and financial/cash flow modeling skills.

  • Applicable industry/specialty division knowledge and expertise.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in both verbal and written forms.

  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to compile, process, and concisely summarize large amounts of information and data.

  • Knowledge of banking policies and procedures and relevant regulatory guidelines.

  • Ability to work independently and as well as collaboratively with team members.

  • Ability to train and mentor junior analysts.

  • General experience with Bank software systems. Experience with FISERV, CreditQuest, and nCino a plus.

  • Must be proficient in a windows environment, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to travel as needed, occasionally overnight.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in banking or finance, with at least five years of credit underwriting or portfolio management experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are experiencing rapid growth and currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join the team in our office in Los Angeles. In this position, you will provide support to the Regional VP in the management of a large industrial portfolio and be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the properties and property staff to fulfill the objectives set each year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Ensure Property Management services are provided in compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and lease obligations and standards for assigned portfolio. * Bid, negotiates and manage vendor contracts. * Conduct routine property inspections to prevent/identify problems and exposures. * Recommend alterations, maintenance and reconditioning for Regional VP approval, as necessary. * Assist Regional VP in the completion of quarterly and annual property inspection reporting. * Assist in preparation of annual Budgets for operating and capital expenses. * Complete annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations. * Responsible for the review and approval of the monthly rent roll, and to ensure statements are sent out timely. * Ensures timely rent collection, and Watch list updates and payment of property expenses. * Ensures tenant needs are met by administrative and building technical staff to resolve problems promptly. * Provide and foster positive relationships with tenants and internal clients. * Oversees transfer of acquisitions/dispositions, including utilities, new vendors, tenant set-up and welcome letters. * Assist Regional VP in the coordination of tenant improvements through punch-list, interior/exterior building capital projects in cooperation with the Construction Department (as required). * Coordinates tenant move-ins and move-outs, completion of all required paperwork including security deposit refund, within required timeframe. * Coordinates Preventative Maintenance Programs for building systems, roof and other, as required. * Assist Regional VP in the coordination of legal action as necessary, including unlawful detainer action, early lease terminations/settlement agreements. * Assists in the preparation and delivery of timely, accurate and complete variance reporting and accruals on a monthly basis, and other reporting, as required. * Assists in tracking Environmental related issues at properties, and ensuring compliance by tenants and vendors.
