The VP, Portfolio Manager supports the assigned lending division by underwriting new credit facilities and managing a portfolio of existing relationships. Working closely with Client Managers and Credit Administration, the Portfolio Manager prepares written submissions of prescreens and credit approvals to Credit Administration and renewal and modification of existing loan facilities. The Portfolio Manager will also manage a portfolio of existing relationships including renewal and modification of loan facilities, assessment and recommendation of risk ratings, the completion of trend cards and problem loan reporting, the ongoing collection of financial statements and testing of financial covenants, as well as the monitoring of loan files to ensure compliance with policy and guidelines. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the assigned lending unit.
Responsible for completing a thorough and independent credit and financial analysis including the preparation and presentation of loan prescreens and loan underwriting packages for loan approval by Credit Administration.
Interact and maintain relationships with clients and outside third parties in the collection of information and documentation needed for prescreens, underwriting, and ongoing portfolio management including financial reporting and covenant compliance.
With supervision from the Credit Products Manager and Senior Portfolio Manager, may underwrite and manage of the divisions more complex credit facilities.
Work with Loan Processing and Loan Servicing to ensure all client-related documentation and administrative issues are resolved on a timely basis and review loan documentation to ensure documents are accurate and consistent with credit approval.
Work closely with CAST (Credit Analysis Support Team) to ensure financial ticklers are cleared, financial spreads completed, and financial covenants are tested.
Actively monitor the portfolio and complete trend cards and annual reviews as well as problem loan status reports to Credit Administration.
Remain up-to-date of changing business, economic, and regulatory developments which impact the loan portfolio and lending division.
Responsible for adherence to all compliance programs, including but not limited to, completion of all required and assigned training modules by establishing due dates.
Understand and employ all policies and procedures of the Bank and the Line of Business and complies with requirements of all laws and regulations applicable to position.
May perform other duties as assigned including travel for diligence meetings.
Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of financial accounting, loan structuring, and loan documentation as well as excellent credit analysis and financial/cash flow modeling skills.
Applicable industry/specialty division knowledge and expertise.
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in both verbal and written forms.
Strong attention to detail and good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to compile, process, and concisely summarize large amounts of information and data.
Knowledge of banking policies and procedures and relevant regulatory guidelines.
Ability to work independently and as well as collaboratively with team members.
Ability to train and mentor junior analysts.
General experience with Bank software systems. Experience with FISERV, CreditQuest, and nCino a plus.
Must be proficient in a windows environment, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to travel as needed, occasionally overnight.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics. Graduate degree preferred.
Minimum of five to seven years of experience in banking or finance, with at least five years of credit underwriting or portfolio management experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
