The Vice President of Population Health will be the key corporate leader of WVU Medicine's population health strategy and tactical plans. The Vice President of Population Health will be responsible for working with executive leadership, organizational physician leaders, and operational clinical directors and managers to ensure WVU Medicine empowers and engages patients in their health and wellbeing, ensures timely and efficient access to care, provides excellence in quality of care, improves physician efficiency and satisfaction, and utilizes information technology solutions and data analytics to drive these strategies and tactical plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.Master's degree in a healthcare related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1.Seven years of executive leadership experience in a healthcare organization.

2.Five years of experience working in a Population Health leadership role.

PREFRRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1.Experience in developing, leading and executing new population health strategies across a health system and/or managed care organization.

2.3-5 years of experience working in a clinical capacity (RN, APP, etc.)

1.Establishes a comprehensive population health strategy and program that supports the organization's strategy, vision, values, and goals.

2.Translate vision into strategic and tactical execution of population health based plans.

3.Think innovatively and strategically about differentiators and critical needs for population health management.

4.Work with leadership to engage, enable, and empower providers through incentives, tools, data systems, and clinical resources to accomplish population health goals and objectives.

5.Communicate with executive leadership to champion population health based initiatives.

6.Ensure a successful population health strategy through working in collaboration with the WVUHS CMIO on the implementation of electronic health record functionality and data analytics.

7.Develops analytic capabilities and shares key information with leaders and physicians.

8.Uses evidence-based clinical quality measures to identify patients in need of population healthcare

9.Maintains professional affiliations, and current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and statutes regarding quality, and remains current with the latest trends in healthcare.



  1. Support the missions and goals of WVU Medicine in a rapidly changing environment and evolving culture of Population Health.

  2. Transitioning the current culture of fee for service medicine to value based care.

  3. Develop/maintain a management structure which ensures the establishment of a unified, effective population health strategy.

  4. Establish partnerships with the physicians, administrative staff and employees, supporting their ability to provide high value care.

  5. Educate the senior management and physician leadership in the effective and appropriate transformation to population health based practices to guide them in their business decisions by presenting options and creative solutions.
