We are looking for a Vice President of Social Responsibility to join UHG's External Affairs team. This individual will lead the design, implementation and management of UnitedHealth Group's employee giving strategy and ensure programs are aligned with the mission and values of UnitedHealth Group.
The role includes employee engagement, giving program management and analysis, disaster response and relationship management. The successful candidate will play a key role on a high-functioning External Affairs and Social Responsibility team, working within a dynamic and highly successful Enterprise.
An ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong experience in employee giving programs, employee engagement initiatives and/or employee assistance programs, is comfortable working with others to lead through influence, is proactive, attentive to detail, committed to excellence, mindful of the broader external environment, and adaptable to change.
Lead the United for Giving employee giving and volunteering program for over 300,000 domestic and international employees
Develop recommendations for ongoing enhancements to UnitedHealth Group's employee and volunteering program to align with evolving best-in-class industry standards and the needs of UHG employees
Accountable for program management including implementation and oversight of key strategic employee involvement initiatives supporting employees in their contributions of time and money
Manage vendor strategy and manage vendor relationships related to the employee giving and volunteer program
Lead efforts to generate internal and external visibility of UHG Social Responsibility activities and impact, inclusive of United Health Foundation and Enterprise giving/philanthropy
Establish and oversee a sustainable Employee Assistance Program designed to facilitate employee-to-employee giving
In coordination with UHG Human Capital and other internal and external partners, lead the design, implementation, and administration of a best-in-class program that meets the distinct needs of UnitedHealth Group employees
Serve as a key contributor to the Enterprise's disaster response strategies
Serve as a liaison to local business leaders to assess community impact, known employee impact and local response efforts, and develop recommendations to inform UnitedHealth Group's corporate response and employee activation efforts
Represent UHG on the US Chamber Corporate Disaster Response Coordination team
Leverage skills and expertise to advance UHG External Affairs' priorities. Collaborate with External Affairs colleagues to advance thought leadership, relationship development, and strategic positioning efforts related to improving health and health care at the state or national levels
5 years of professional experience leading large-scale strategic initiatives. Preference given to candidates with experience in corporate social responsibility and managing large-scale employee giving programs
Experience with leadership, and a passion and commitment to Social Responsibility and corporate philanthropic initiatives
Experience working with employees and delivering quality customer service
Experience with program management, including development of strategic initiatives, active management and execution
Experience working on high-profile issues and experience successfully working with executive leadership
Travel up to 25%
Expertise in employee disaster relief and/or employee assistance funds
Experience working in corporate functions
Based in the Minneapolis / St Paul, MN or Washington, DC area
Sharp analytical and strategic thinking capabilities and ability to use good judgment in nuanced situations
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively - both verbally and in written deliverables - to executive audiences
Comfort working in fast-paced environment, is able to multi-task, and has strong time management skills
A highly motivated team player who is comfortable leading in ambiguous situations, developing new relationships, and working with diverse stakeholders
