Program OverviewThe school-based counseling program works in partnership with many local schools to provide on-site counseling and support. The program serves students of all ages, from pre-k through 12th grade, with behavioral and mental health needs that goes beyond the scope of what the school can provide. The school-based mental health (SBMH) program offers behavioral health assessments, diagnostic verifications, service plan development sessions, individual counseling, familycounseling, group counseling, community support, case management, and psychiatric services through our counseling centers. CHRIS 180 counselors work closely with the caregivers of students being served. They also work closely with school administration and teachers, to provide psychoeducation about diagnoses and offer strategies for how to manage behaviors in the school environment. The VP works closely with all principals, funding sources, grant managers, and school systems superintendents offices. The VP coordinates all services including training of school personnel and behavioral health service in all partner schools.Position DescriptionThe VP of School-Based Mental Health programming is responsible for the oversight of CHRIS 180 staff providing services in local partner schools. The VP of School-Based Mental Health must be knowledgeable about school systems and policies for providing school-based services. Licensed clinical knowledge about working with youth and families is also required. They must understand grant reporting, data collection, multi-tiered approaches to managing community-based service, Medicaid and private insurance billing, budgets, and managing employees. The VP of School-Based Mental Health reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Behavioral Health Team, among other workgroups and committees as assigned.Role and ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties include but are not limited to the following: * Supervision and Support of School-Based Staff * Screen, interview, select, and train the School-Based Mental Health staff * Provide ongoing oversight and guidance to school-based counseling staff * Promote positive working relationships amongst the school-based staff * Ensure adequate staffing is maintained at all schools throughout the year * Participate in the evaluation of staff members and provide direction for growth and development * Collaborate with clinical supervisors and Community Behavior Aide supervisor to ensure that adequate support is given to all school-based clients * Administrative Oversight*
  • Be available to attend school-based counseling and related meetings with districts and other providers and funders, as needed * Remain up to date on current school specific and district wide policies * Assist and Coordinate PQI with periodically reviewing/revising school-based mental health services policies * Collect programmatic data for each school and maintain system for tracking all measures needed for grant reporting * Provide data summaries to , DBHDD and district appointment contacts on a monthly basis or as requested. * Meet with potential new schools to assess if a partnership is viable * Maintain organization of 20+ contracts related to grants, MOUs and private partnerships renewing said documents before they expire * Work closely with accounting to ensure timely submission of invoices to funding sources occur on schedule * Clinical Requirements * Provide oversight to the management team within the SBMH department * Maintain full licensure * Remain up to date on all clinical and administrative policies of CHRIS 180 in general and specifically as it relates to school-based work * Performance and Conduct * Maintain confidentiality of client information * Maintain appropriate professional boundaries * Follow the CHRIS 180 Code of Ethics * Follow mandated reporting requirements of GA Code * Support and maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety for clients, staff and other stakeholders at all times * Demonstrate Customer Service * Promote positive image of CHRIS 180 programs at all times * Work as a contributing and collaborative team member * Respond to client and peer needs in a timely fashion * Answer telephone calls and emails accordingly * Respond to requests for information from stakeholders in a timely fashion * Maintain Personal Information and Training * Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled * Attend and participate in required trainings as scheduled * Maintain required certifications * Review, understand and responsible to program policies * Provide documents in a timely fashion to Human Resources * Report changes in status to HR as required by policyQualifications/CompetenciesThe VP of School-Based Mental Health Services must possess a Masters degree in social work, counseling, or a related field. Must have active independent (full) clinical licensure and maintain licensure while employed in this position. The Vice President of School-Based Counseling must have experience working in the human services field, working with school systems, and working with trauma. The VP of School-Based Mental Health Services will be required to be adaptable and work occasional evening and/or weekend events, as needed.
