We are at a pivotal point in our journey where data is the linchpin of our future successes. To spearhead this critical domain, we are seeking a visionary Vice President of Data who will architect our data future.
As our Vice President of Data, you will be the architect of our global data strategy, laying the foundation to enable our business to scale into the future. You will be a catalyst for change across many areas, such as leading our transition to Snowflake, enabling our teams to access and draw insights from data in real-time, and providing the guidance they need to build data processes into their decision-making. You will build, manage, and inspire teams of data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation and shifting toward an approach to treat data as a product at Balsam.
This full-time position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is expected to work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Tuesday and Wednesday in-office.
What you'll do:
Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with Balsam Brands' overall objectives, ensuring that data initiatives drive value and support growth
Team Management: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of data professionals, including data engineers, scientists, and analysts
Snowflake Migration and Optimization: Spearhead the migration to Snowflake, ensuring the platform is optimized for scalability, cost-efficiency, and security
Data Governance and Compliance: Establish robust data governance practices, ensuring data integrity, quality, and compliance with relevant data protection regulations in the geographies where we operate
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business functions to understand their data needs and challenges; deliver solutions that empower them to achieve their goals
Enhance Data Literacy: Work across the company to ensure that all team members understand how to interpret and utilize data insights to drive decisions
Innovation and Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest trends in data science, machine learning, and cloud technologies, with a focus on Snowflake advancements and other relevant eCommerce data tools
What you bring to the table:
At least 15 years of leadership experience in data roles, ideally within eCommerce or retail
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; Master's degree or PhD is preferred
Proven experience in developing and implementing data strategies that have materially impacted business performance
Deep understanding of Snowflake, including its architecture, security features, and best practices for data modeling and real-time analytics
Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and grow teams of data professionals
Experience managing Agile teams
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
A track record of driving data adoption within organizations
Technical proficiency with cloud data platforms, data modeling, data governance; experience in ML and AI projects

The base pay range for this position is: $233,000 to $277,000. Where an individual falls within that range will vary based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on candidate qualifications and experience, applicable skills, and other job-related factors. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members.
