This VP, IS Transformation and Engineering leader is responsible for driving our security strategy and implementation of the overall IS Transformation and Engineering capability. This position will manage a team of Engineers and Solutions architects whose goal is to develop secure enterprise wide solutions across current and emerging technologies (Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Data Lake, etc.).
Define strategic vision on how to "secure" emerging technologies by collaborating across information security, application development and CTO organization
Collaborate with our security architects, security operations and CTO team to engineer security solutions focused on protecting our complex, ever-changing environment
Develop a team of engineers whose primary function is to build and configure security solutions based on architecture standards and tool operations specifications
Collaborate with security architects to research and recommend technology and business process solutions to secure the business and give the company a competitive advantage in alignment with strategic direction.
Help define standards and guidelines around Scalability, Security, Logging, Auditing, Policy Management, Performance Monitoring and KPI for end-to-end process execution
Works collaboratively with software development teams, data warehouse teams, systems engineers and analysts to develop and deliver secure enterprise class technology solutions.
Builds and maintains relationships with key vendors to understand the market and direction of information security
Accountable for strategic technology engineering across Information Security
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience with information security and either systems administration, networking, data analysis or application development or equivalent or higher in CS, Technology, a related technical or engineering field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree a high school diploma\GED and a minimum of 16 years experience with information security and either systems administration, networking, data analysis or application development
Minimum 7 years of software + hardware architecture experience
Minimum 7 years productionizing applications in an enterprise environment
Experience with the evaluation of emerging technology and /or experience as a technology innovator or maker + Demonstrated understanding of security vulnerabilities, attacks and ability to apply/implement appropriate controls or find new ones based on new technology being developed.
Familiarity with the Synchrony Financial environment, security controls and strong knowledge of a plurality of languages, operating systems, and databases, plus previous experience working on an R&D or architecture team
Masters Degree in a technology related field from an accredited university Enterprise Role

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
