The primary purpose of our VP of Human Resources and Organizational Development is to assist Great Lakes Credit Union to live out our vision, "To be the members' trusted financial partner".

As the VP, HR & OD, you will be responsible for providing leadership to the Human Resources and Organization Development teams and guidance and support to the credit union. Oversee the development and implementation of human resources, organizational development policies, programs and services. In this position you will oversee recruitment, selection, retention, legal compliance, employee benefits, employee relations, employment practices and procedures. As the VP of HR and OD you will manage performance management, employee communications, employee events, payroll, and training and development. Serve as internal consultant to credit union management team, supervisors and employees on personnel issues that affect performance and business relationships.

As the VP, HR & OD, your duties will be:

  • Provide leadership and direction with the HR functional areas; Talent Assessment, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, and Training and Development. Develops strategic initiatives to foster continuous improvement while ensuring the tactical work is being meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements and with the highest level of internal service.

  • Developing creative and cost effective ways of generating high quality candidates. Work with supervisors and managers to recruit, interview and recommend qualified employee candidates who can best contribute to the success and growth of the credit union.

  • Responsible for advising management to ensure credit union compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment and training. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law.

  • Oversee, and makes recommendations for enhancing the employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, 401(k) plan, Paid Time Off (PTO), unemployment compensation and worker's compensation programs.

  • Serve as internal consultant to managers and advisor in employee situations.

  • Oversee the development of credit union wide training and development programs to enhance individual employee growth and expertise while supporting long-term strategic business objectives. 7. Ensure that employee payroll is processed accurately and on a timely basis including the completion of all required and requested payroll reports. Continually monitor payroll and timecard process to ensure practices are efficient and cost effective.

  • Responsible for all wage and salary administration to include participation in annual salary surveys. Coordinate, prepare and participate in annual Board of Directors Salary Committee meeting.

  • Oversee personnel recordkeeping related to new hires, employee reviews, promotions, transfers, separations, and exit interviews.

  • Work closely with department managers to conduct job analyses to establish the specific requirements of individual jobs within each department for the creation and oversight of job descriptions.

  • Ensure all Human resources policies, and the employee guidelines is current and reflects the human resources goals and objectives of the credit union.

  • Facilitate annual Talent Review and Succession Planning. Develop plans and provide employee training ensure the credit union continually develops a base of talent for future promotion into management roles.

  • Actively participate in annual strategic and other business planning events.

  • Develop and manage the human resources budget and other financial measures of the department.


  • Graduate degree, preferred

  • 10-15 years of experience in a similar role

  • Financial industry background, strongly preferred

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience human resources information system (HRIS)

  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management safety, hiring, and employee relations

  • Proven experience leading a Organizational Development team

  • Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork

  • Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning

Baxter is looking for a Senior HR Representative to join the organization. This position will be responsible for providing HR Generalist support for processes and programs within Baxter. The Senor HR Representative will partner with key stakeholders, drive key initiatives, communicate policy changes, and implement best practices and standardized operating procedures. Key Responsibilities: * Support HR team in implementing function HR plans and programs such as performance management and annual compensation review process * Partner and liaise with functional COE members to resolve HR matters * Proactively communicate with employees and managers regarding HR policies and practices and key HR programs; responsible for coordination of LOA policy and process and New Employee Orientation on an as needed basis * Data management responsibilities to include data audits, data entry, reporting and data analysis related to employee engagement survey process, talent management and other ad-hoc needs * Work independently to resolve straightforward employee relations issues and help resolve moderately complex ER issues * Participate in local talent planning which includes implementation of function-wide training and development plans and talent management support including support of leadership assessment process * Recommend and drive improvement to HR systems, policies and processes * Escalate HR matters to respective team members, as needed Requirements: * 5 years of professional human resources experience required * Bachelor's degree is required * Knowledge of HR management components including performance management, development, compensation, culture and engagement, change management, organizational design, and inclusion & diversity * Experience working with Leadership Team members, people managers and employees working in a variety of locations (field, corporate and global) * Ability to drive operational excellence, support multiple team members, and promote teamwork * Effective communication skills, both written and oral * Proficiency and comfort within Microsoft Office and HR Systems (Workday) * Strong technology application and analytical skills * Ability to learn, adapt, prioritize, and succeed in fast-paced environment * Disciplined in work approach and execution of responsibilities #LI-BAXGEN #LI-LH1 #IND-USCF Equal Employment Opportunity Baxter is an equal opportunity employer.
