We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Regional Vice President Human Resources Partnership (R-HRBP) position based at Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Reporting to the CEO, this role is a key team member of the Mid-America Region's executive team.


The Vice President R-HRBP serves as a trusted and collaborative advisor, providing a proactive, practical, and valued HR perspective in partnership with regional executive leadership. The VP serves as the strategic partner to regional COE and the champion of regional and system-wide HR initiatives, ensuring regional alignment in support of attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent. This individual possesses strong skills in building relationships, diagnosing issues, advising, influencing, and guiding senior leaders on the HR implications of business decisions related to aspects of people-management and leadership. The R-HRBP provides strategic leadership to HR functions within the region and serves as a critical partner to COEs.

Job Duties:

  • In partnership with regional executive leadership, diagnoses, translates, and defines current and future business needs into an overall integrated strategic HR plan for the region

  • Provides expert advice, influencing business decisions impacting and related to all aspects of people management and leadership; serves as a consultant on issues related to strategy execution and change, talent management, employee engagement, and performance management

  • Responsible for workforce panning, organizational design, and strategic planning from a regional perspective and in alignment with organization

  • Monitors regional metrics, external market developments, and HR analytics to diagnose needs throughout region

  • Ensures compliance efforts related to regulatory standards are met

  • Partners with COE regarding organization compensation strategies and leads regional compensation strategies as appropriate, facilitates annual regional compensation decisions

  • Reviews and benchmarks the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives

  • Maintains knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends in talent. Ensures compliance measures are maintained for all regulatory and legal requirements

  • Serves as a strategic change agent, demonstrating the ability to influence, negotiate and gain buy-in at all levels within the organization

  • Serves as a champion for the HR operating model and serves as the regional liaison between the regional leadership and AHS HR functions to ensure that services and solutions are driving business objectives and aligned with regional needs

  • Utilizes workforce data analytics and business metrics to identify and analyze talent implications, trends, formulates insights, and makes recommendations on key business solutions and opportunities to influence and drive employee engagement, performance, retention, and influence leadership decision making

  • Leads financial budgeting process for regional HR functions and facility-specific HR budget strategy

  • Provides leadership and influence in the mission integration and culture of facility aligned with AdventHealth's Mission Integration standards. Leads incorporation of AdventHealth's culture and transition to AdventHealth business model for newly acquired business units


Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience with project management methodologies

  • Organizational Effectiveness, Organizational Development or Leadership Development experience

  • Strong skills in organization, prioritization, and managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines; ability to complete large amounts of work effectively and efficiently

  • Demonstrated superior matrix management and partnering skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic hands-on environment that requires a consultative approach and solutions that span multiple business units

  • Understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes

  • Ability to understand, explain, and suggest interrelationships between business and technology strategies; Ability to learn and use strong business acumen to support strategic alignment of initiatives

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships; to quickly build relationships and diplomatically negotiate common approach; to interact with all levels of management; to work collaboratively and individually to achieve stated goals

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Master's degree in HR, business, or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources management experience

  • Minimum of five years of Leadership Development or Organizational Development experience

  • 8-10 years HR business partner experience working in with senior leadership in a healthcare provider setting

  • Management experience within a healthcare organization

  • Project management and consulting experience

  • Senior level certification in Society for Human Resources (SHRM-CP, PHR, HRBP or sHRBP) preferred

Essential Job Functions Functions include three key areas of focus addressing the business, building a census culture, and assisting in the sales and marketing function of the center. Meets with potential residents/patients, localities, and families to educate them on the facility services offered. Addressing the Business: * Referrals are responded to timely and bed offers are made or appropriate decline given, working in coordination with the centralized admission team or hospital liaison * All families are contacted for each referral * All referrals are forwarded to sister centers when cannot accommodate needs * Bed management is effective to increase the number and possibility of admissions * Follow up is completed on all d/c patients: family contacted, HL and central brought into the loop, center staff is contacted with any concerns * All lost business is contacted for positive changes and feedback, and potential admissions * Inquiry log is maintained and up to date daily (CRM system is maintained when available) * Every referral, every day is addressed and noted Building a Census Culture: * Works with therapy and SW teams to ensure D/C are reported accurately and timely to admit patients same day * Captures appropriate d/c information to add appropriate patients to lead based management program * Shares metrics reports each month to the team to extend greater understand, seek feedback, and support center success * Adds census supporting topics to staff meetings or other opportunities to creatively engage staff to better support and understand census Marketing and Sales: * Regularly and customarily spends his/her time engaged in selling * Maintains a thorough knowledge of the centers products and services, acuity capabilities and physician relations * Meets routinely with Administrator and department to address marketing or census issues * Maintains an educated understanding of all payer sources and their impact on revenue * WIll complete a marketing action plan, metrics report, and sales summary monthly to be reviewed with Regional sales Manager and Administrator * Will keep an active lead based management program * Will work with team to develop appropriate sales success "stories" for the purpose promotion of centers products and initiatives * Will lead events that bring the community in or make community aware of products and services * Will schedule sales with Regional manager bi-monthly or as directed by Regional manager * Sales system will be utilized for all sales calls (current system in place) * Will work with Regional to develop a sales plan that will lead to improved referral development, increased admission to reach census targets * Schedule quarterly sale meetings * Represents the company with professionalism to community and referral sources (i.e., Other skilled nursing, independent living, community partnerships such as Chamber of Commerce, networking, senior organizations). * Responsible for relationship development and management of health partners and organizations; sources new business. Experience/Skills/Education: Experience in marketing or a related field is preferred. One to three (1-3) years of experience in health care, long-term care industry. Maintains an appropriate level of knowledge about sources of payment. Knowledge and experience related to the physical and emotional needs of the elderly, disabled. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care, including Medicare, Medicaid. Must understand the admissions process from acute care to Assisted Living and Residential Care. Public relations experience preferred.
