The Vice President & General Counsel is the chief legal officer for The Teaching Company d/b/a The Great Courses. In this capacity, the person will serve as General Counsel of the Company, the Chief Compliance Office, Vice President & Secretary of the Company's corporate entities, and a member of the Company's Leadership team. The position will have overall responsibility for all legal, regulatory, transactional, compliance and related activities of the Company, and will work closely with other members of senior management, company personnel, the Board of Directors and outside counsel.

Supervises: Part-time Paralegal and Contracts Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Sole in-house counsel responsible for day to day legal and transactional support:
Contracts, including partner, vendor, customer and production/talent agreements
Marketing, Advertising and Partnership support
Data Protection and Privacy
Insurance and Risk Management
International legal and regulatory matters
Corporate Policy Development
Litigation and administrative claims
Corporate Governance and Board Secretary
Management of the Company's official corporate and Board files
Chief Compliance Officer and management of the Company's Ethics Hotline
Management of outside counsel as needed
Member of Company's Leadership Team
The ideal candidate experience for the Vice President & General Counsel at TTC will include:
BA, BS or other University Undergraduate Degree
Active Bar Association Membership
10+ years of legal practice experience, preferably with some in-house experience
Generalist legal background required, with emphasis on experience with commercial transactions and intellectual property
Working knowledge of corporate law, compliance and HR issues
Candidate should possess a collaborative work style, an ability to communicate legal and business issues and processes to all relevant stakeholders, and excellent communication and negotiating skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
