VP, Enterprise Architecture | 100% Remote

General Summary:

The Vice President of Enterprise Architecture is a thought leader with a significant passion for technology, understanding and delivering on business strategy, driving innovation, and building a flexible model that will modernize the organization, while setting guardrails for teams to have autonomy to test and learn as they deliver. This role reports to the CIO, and as part of this role, this individual will be responsible for defining and influencing all aspects of enterprise architecture and will be expected to work closely and influence peers, executives, business leaders, and architects across the organization. The role requires someone with a strong background in SaaS, with infrastructure, security, and data integrations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates significant understanding of technology trends and business processes, translating complex technical items into business terms and strategy.

  • Thought leadership through clear presentations, architectural diagrams and visions, and aligning the organization to an Architectural Roadmap balancing running the business with transformational delivery driving business growth.

  • Complex implementations across the enterprise that adhere to standards and best practices.

  • Advise, coach, and mentor Principal and Senior employees within the organization to ensure strong architecture practice and increase their skill set.

  • Collaborates with multiple business and technical stakeholders to create, maintain and iteratively implement a sustainable set of Technology Roadmaps

  • Collaborates to align business and technology strategies and ensure realization of business capabilities through Enterprise Architecture.

  • Resolves architectural uncertainties through prioritization, planning, and execution of architectural sprints and reprioritizes Technology Roadmap and portfolio backlogs as needed.

  • Collaborate with and manage Architects across the Enterprise to ensure standardized, efficient, high quality, architecturally sound tactical implementations of technology roadmaps.

  • Responsible for organizational technology design, runtime, quality of architectural designs and implemented applications and solutions across the Enterprise.

  • Works to further business goals through evaluation, assessment and comparison of emergent technology. This may involve prototyping and proof of concept work, as well as in-depth vendor engagement.

  • Coordinates or participates in tool, technology and service selection, risk assessments and sunsetting in conjunction with technical and business stakeholders ensuring consistency with existing business needs and architectural sustainability.

  • Ensures that Enterprise Architecture is operational, agile, measurable, and operable within the context of Continuous Build and Deploy, for both internal and external applications.

  • Actively monitors and seeks new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies, products, methods and techniques. Evaluates likely relevance of these for the organization. Provides regular briefings and communications to Leadership, Management and Staff.

  • Champions Architecture, Technology and Innovation across the Enterprise through various modes of communication, with particular focus on the Development Community.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Technology with a minimum of 3 years in a technical architect capacity and with leading technical architects/resource management.

  • Bachelors required, or equivalent relevant experience. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Authority on the software development life cycle and typical problems associated with the implementation of technology, from initial concept through development and implementation to operation and support.

  • Has detailed practical knowledge of the organization's IT infrastructure and software development and maintenance methods, tools and techniques.

  • Has a sound knowledge of risk assessment, change management, configuration management, reliability and security methods and the use of metrics.

  • Communicates persuasively and effectively to business and technical audiences.

  • Is able to envision business potential of emerging technologies and products and the applicability to test and learn to derive benefit.

  • Is current in understanding of both developer trends and emerging technologies.

  • Has sound knowledge of Agile/Lean development methodologies and Continuous Deployment Tools and Techniques. Can ensure that overall Enterprise Architecture Designs and Tool/Vendor selections facilitate and/or support these techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams delivering projects using Agile.

  • Strong knowledge of continuous delivery tools, devops practices, architecture, data, analytics, API design and implementation, and a mixture of vendor and home grown applications.

  • Proficiency with data technologies such as openAI, ChatGPT, AWS QuickSight, and Python is strongly preferred.

  • Expertise in Java, Cloud Technologies, Serverless, Microservices, Containers.

  • Self-motivated and directed, proactive and action-oriented, must demonstrate personal accountability.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed above.

Work Environment:

  • Remote: This role is remote, and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship.

  • It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace.

  • Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

  • Travel: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to attend meetings, as necessary
