ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Strategy Responsibilities
Leads the enterprise applications organization to successful delivery of business outcomes
Manages the functional and technical budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures
Builds strong working relationships with business leaders to ensure software engineering teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals
Collaborates with Data & Innovation team and business leaders to develop short and long term strategic plans
Supports and facilitates innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames
Provides leadership, vision, and direction for the software engineering organization
Works with architects to design, manage, and/or execute roadmaps
Champions Data Governance with Enterprise Applications and ensures the team is maintaining good data practices
Explores innovations and trends in technology for institutional applicability
Talent Management Responsibilities
Develops workforce strategy to meet the organization's current and future technical and functional needs through developing, hiring, and/or sourcing talent
Manages resource allocation across teams to maximize the business impact of resources and ensure each team has the skills and capabilities needed to achieve its objectives
Manages functional and technical talent, playing a key role in performance management and compensation processes, role and competency definition, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Partners with Human Resources department to create learning and development opportunities aligned to the organization's skill and capability needs, and to provide rewarding career paths for Enterprise Apps functional and technical staff
Recruits and hires talent to address new needs and skill gaps
Facilitates collaboration and partnership across the enterprise apps teams and stakeholders
Builds a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness
Manages employee engagement and promotes a compelling employee value proposition to retain software engineering staff
Oversight Responsibilities for Enterprise Apps Team Activities
Champions best practices and modern software development methods and tools
Leads software engineering teams and other stakeholders to set goals for improving code quality, maintainability, security, and scalability; monitors progress against these goals.
Implements and manages software development status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks
Manages collaboration with Infrastructure and Operations to ensure software performs well in production and meets SLAs
Works with the Chief Information Officer to ensure software is effectively secured and that risks are mitigated Oversees management of relationships with consultants, vendors, and contractors and supports negotiation of statements of work and business terms with suppliers
Collaborates with Infrastructure, DevOps, Service Desk, Compliance & Security, Process Optimization, and PMO leaders to oversee functional and technical processes and practices, including automating the handoff of code releases from development to operations
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
12+ years of experience in ERP implementation and application development, deployment, and support, with at least 4+ years of experience managing architects, preferably in a retail manufacturing environment.
Strong business analysis and process reengineering skills
Portfolio and project management experience
Strong familiarity with various SDLC methodologies
Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, and the ability to interact with and influence key stakeholders
Proven ability to solve business problems using technology and/or analytics
Ability to influence, lead and mentor the Data & Innovation team
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
PREFERRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
A supply chain and manufacturing process background
Extensive experience in managing SAP or other tier-1 ERP systems, with a strong understanding of structured implementation and upgrade methodologies
Proven track record in systems implementation, development, operations, maintenance, and support within a publicly traded company
Expertise in data management practices, including data governance, data warehousing, and reporting
Strong principles and techniques in systems analysis, design, programming, and documentation
In-depth knowledge of system backup, continuity, data protection, and security techniques
