DESCRIPTION

As a seasoned leader, the Vice President/Divisional Merchandise Manager directs the merchandising function of the division and is directly responsible for the financial performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop seasonal merchandise strategies and construct financial plans to meet company profit objectives.

  • Recruit, train, and develop the buying staff, making appropriate organizational structure recommendations based on individual talents. Support internal career path development.

  • Ensure maximum performance relating to sales volume and gross margin opportunities in all categories within the division, including the BG Magazine.

  • Ensure appropriate inventory levels, currency standards and promote inventory control standards for the division.

  • Impart appropriate taste level and standards to all aspects of the merchandise selection process, including merchandise strategy and the execution of visual and interior concepts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of progressive merchandising experience within multiple product categories in a retail environment, most recently at a senior level

  • Outstanding financial, management, and organizational skills

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or minimum of 7-10 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Center is a collaborative enterprise, driven by student interest, focused on centralizing resources and advocating and providing support for the Manhattan College community around issues of gender and sexuality. It is committed to an intersectional feminist approach to Lasallian values, and seeks to promote programming and research in Lasallian feminism. More specifically, we are committed to using an anti-racist feminist framework to inform Lasallian commitments to inclusivity, respect for the dignity of all persons, and solidarity with the most vulnerable. Student Assistants will report to the Assistant Vice President of Student Life, Graduate Assistant, and Faculty Directors, and will aid in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the new Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center, while having the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the Center during its inaugural year. This position combines detailed administrative work with leadership opportunities, community building, event planning and promotion, and developing workshops and support programs. As such, this position works with confidential student, information, and calls for a detail-oriented individual with strong written and oral communication skills and strong research and leadership skills. An ideal candidate has experience in advocacy and/or education, administrative work or event coordination, working with diverse populations, and is conversant with intersectional feminism and committed to both feminist and Lasallian values. Eligibility: Students must be enrolled at Manhattan College. Responsibilities and Tasks * Attend regular meetings with faculty co-directors, graduate assistant, and the steering committee. * Facilitate and liaise with student groups and clubs as needed. * Organize and facilitate student workshops and circle groups for advocacy and support. * Conduct research for resources containing relevant information on advocacy, community resources, and student resources. * Conduct research on the role of Lasallian hallmarks in the establishment of the Women and Gender Resource Center. * Assist with the coordination, marketing and execution of events and programs sponsored and co-sponsored by the Women and Gender Resource Center. * Assist in maintaining communication with students and faculty to promote information regarding event notifications. Address student, faculty, and community questions and emails. * Provide general administrative support as needed. * Work on website content, research of resources for campus community. * Assist, plan, and lead training sessions for students, staff, and community. * Assist in development & distribution of promotional materials including but not limited to flyers, social media, newsletters, and email. * Manage outreach and reimbursement for speakers. * Assist with data collection, assessment. * Participate in leadership programs related to women, gender, sexuality, and diversity. Working Hours 3-6 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 am to 4:30 (flexible) and occasional evenings. Other Requirements Maintained, minimum 3.0 GPA. Qualifications Extreme organizational skills and attention to detail is required. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and counseling skills, Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines. Ability to work effectively independently and within teams. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
