Role SummaryThe Vice President Design (Creative Director) will oversee the design and experiential aspects of lifestyle projects within the venue portfolio. In tandem with our brand partner TAO, and third-party teams, the Vice President Design (Creative Director) will be our internal advisor. This individual will be responsible for concept and design of our public venue concourses (concession areas), lounges, suites and restaurants. In addition, they will be responsible for creating upscale brand standards for overall venue and suites aesthetics and inspire developers and external design partners to deliver forward thinking, functional and beautifully designed spaces that exceed guest expectations. This position will report into the EVP Development & Construction.Specific Functions/Activities Summary
Oversees design activities for new venues, renovation projects, or property conversions in US & international markets.
Establishes upscale and relevant brand standards, creative design, direction and strategy for The MSG Sphere in global locations.
Drives engagement with developers, owners and project consultants while fostering partnerships with the architecture, design, construction teams, MSG stakeholders and external design partners.
Responsible for establishing an innovative and creative design advantage using advanced and new products and materials.
Evaluates, recommends, and ultimately selects Interior Designers for current and future projects.
Researches the market and competitive set to stay current on industry trends.
Responsible for the management and distribution of all design and technical standards which is inclusive of punch lists and design modifications.
Provides a creative vision to MSG, bringing coherence, modern design and a distinct point of view to our venue assets.
Minimum of 15 years' regional or multi-property professional experience in Interior Architecture & Design within an upscale/luxury Hospitality, Retail, Residential or Commercial Office setting.
Four-year degree in Architecture, Interior Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. MBA Preferred.
Extensive knowledge of principles, policies and practices relating to construction and design projects with a solid track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
Strong working knowledge of contracts, contract negotiations, state and city building codes.
Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational and time management skills required.
Proficiency in the following programs: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Auto CAD Drafting, 3D Modeling programs and Adobe Creative Suite (Design, Illustrator & Photoshop).
Exceptional attention to detail and style, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills is essential.
Demonstrates integrity, tact, diplomacy and a commitment to company values and excellence.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while managing multiple tasks.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule (inclusive of weekends & holidays) and willing to travel to other locations as needed (25-50%) both Domestic & Internationally (Current US entry/exit documents required).
EducationCandidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
