Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and technically proficient data science leader to develop data science software products used worldwide. The ideal candidate has experience in Agile software development, large-scale data science (hundreds of millions of obsevations and tens of thoudsands of features), cluster-based cloud computing (this isn't desktop R) and cross-functional team collaboration. We'll expand your current skills through collaboration with some of the smartest and nicest people in the advertising and marketing technolgoy industry, while learning the inner workings of a fast-paced, data-driven digital marketing agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of developers in designing, implementing, testing and maintaining data science software products used by Merkle, and our parent company Dentsu Aegis Network, worldwide.

  • Collaborate with business owners to identify and prioritize data science products that generate big business value.

  • Develop high profile, high performance solutions using cutting edge technologies in the cloud.

  • Enforce best practices in data engineering, machine learning, modeling methodologies and model quality.

  • Collaborate with software engineering and development operations teams to insure that products are scalable and reliable.

  • Hire and grow world-class talent.

Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Statistics or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Related graduate degree or 10 years' experience

  • Deep expertise in SQL and Python or R. Today we use AWS, R, Python, Hive, Scikit-learn, Spark, SparkML, XGBoost, Lasso, LDA and approximate nearest neighbor. Tomorrow? Come help decide.

  • Executive presence and demeanor

  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment

  • Experience scaling projects to hundreds of millions of obsevations and tens of thoudsands of features

  • Superb communications skills working across functions, companies and in the C-suite

  • End-to-end experience applying machine learning in a production environment including ETL, data quality analysis, model validation and scoring

  • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments

Other Desired Skills

  • Active curiosity of new(ish) techniques such as matrix factorization, multi-layer neural nets or t-SNE

  • Degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Related graduate degree or 10 years' experience

  • AWS experience

  • Digital advertising experience

  • Cross-discipline team leadership

Data Manager Responsibilities: Responsibilities * Maintain list of data providers and track adherence to SLAs at a granular level on a monthly basis * On a monthly basis, collect data files and load to production platform * On a monthly basis, maintain current product and benchmark set to run Morningstar, Lipper, FactSet data files and load to Synthesis * On a monthly basis, manage mappings between all relevant systems if they change due to launches, liquidations and changes to the lineup * Run, review and remedy data validations on a daily basis during production * Research questions regarding validity of data – work with Technology, data providers and vendors to remedy issues, where necessary * Manage day-to-day manual data pushes when data is loaded post-overnight run * Track product launches and liquidations to incorporate (or remove) data * Manage inquiries to the Web site for questions regarding U.S. product set – work with Technology, data providers and vendors to remedy issues, where necessary * Stay ahead of production schedule to ensure data is ready – data comes in at different times so must be cadenced and validated to align with SLAs for deliverables * Work with relevant teams (business, vendor, Technology, etc.) for new data builds or update to existing builds * During production, work directly with the production team to quickly address issues and questions regarding the data, formatting, etc. of deliverables Qualifications: * Minimum 10 years of experience in Financial Services leadership roles * Strong knowledge of Factset and other financial vendor data providers of fund characteristics * Proven ability to lend thought leadership to continuous improvement opportunities and problem resolution * Strong people, project management and leadership abilities * Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills * Outstanding thoroughness and attention to detail * Ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex priorities * Superior written and oral communication and influencing skills with clients and internal stakeholders * Proficiency in investment concepts and asset classes * Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving deliverables * Knowledge of asset management businesses and competitive landscape * University degree required Jpmorgan Chase & Co.
