Job Title: Vice President, Corporate Counsel
Reports to and Location: The Vice President, Counsel will report to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel in our Norwalk, CT office.
The Vice President, Corporate Counsel will work with lawyers from across the company to:
Develop consistent standards and practices for Booking Holdings' subsidiary legal departments and businesses.
Facilitate knowledge sharing between subsidiary legal departments.
Oversee and coordinate key cross-company legal matters impacting Booking Holdings Inc. and its subsidiaries. (e.g., Booking.com, KAYAK, Priceline, agoda, Rentalcars.com, OpenTable, etc.).
Oversee all litigation naming Booking Holdings and coordinate litigation involving multiple subsidiaries.
Working in close collaboration with Booking Holdings' Finance, Tax and HR Departments, develop consistent standards and practices across subsidiary legal departments, such as standards relating to website practices and disclosures, contracting practices and key contractual provisions, treatment of intellectual property, retaining law firms, litigation preparedness, etc., including coordinating consistent practices and documentation in inter-company agreements.
Identify key areas for knowledge sharing across subsidiary legal departments and develop processes to share knowledge on key issues and develop a framework for on-boarding lawyers across the company; organize and oversee Booking Holdings' annual global legal department offsite.
Coordinate analysis and legal advice on key corporate issues involving Booking Holdings and one or more Booking Holdings subsidiaries.
Oversee litigation naming Booking Holdings and/or multiple subsidiaries.
This position requires an exceptionally accomplished attorney with a stellar professional record and a strong business orientation. In addition to possessing the requisite legal and technical skills, the successful candidate must approach this role from an experienced business perspective and demonstrate a high degree of ethics and integrity, as well as strategic/conceptual thinking capabilities.
The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience, gained through work in a major law firm and in-house law department.
Ability to identify and address legal issues while coupling legal advice with pragmatic business solutions.
A law degree from a recognized law school, admission to a State Bar of any jurisdiction in the United States, and the ability to register as authorized house counsel in Connecticut.
Mature judgment and gravitas with the ability to build relationships across the Booking Holdings organization including the business units, senior management and other legal team members.
Collaborative and consultative team player who possesses an ability to work well both independently and in a team environment including senior management.
Strong issue identification and problem-solving skills with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to successfully manage and meet deadlines as part of a lean legal team within a changing, fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely.
Pro-active, energetic, self-assured professional with high personal integrity and ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with others.
