As a Commercial Card Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and building new business opportunities in an assigned territory of middle-market prospects with annual revenue of $10-$500MM. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process including prospecting, sales, underwriting, implementation, and post-implementation follow-up. This position works independently with minimal supervision from the team leader. You will be expected to disrupt prospects' thinking and deliver solutions that dramatically transform their businesses.

General Responsibilities:

  • Use insight and consultative selling techniques to teach customers about their industry and offer unique perspectives on their business, which link back to Capital One's solutions

  • Design and implement sales strategies to ensure the company meets its revenue objectives

  • Coach customer stakeholders and build consensus for Capital One's solutions within their organization

  • Responsible for building new customer relationships with Capital One's commercial payments products (purchasing, travel, and electronic account payable solutions)

  • Sales lead generation through internal/external referral process, outbound marketing, and industry networking events

  • Candidate will manage multiple phases of sales cycle, including initial contact, identification of client needs, presentations/product demos, negotiation, underwriting, & implementation

  • Develops, manages and maintains relationships with any local managers from other Capital One businesses

  • Refers business appropriately to internal partners including Small Business and Middle Market

  • Maintains broad and technical product knowledge including competitor product information

  • Works independently and provide weekly reports to management

  • Maintains and updates CRM system regarding sales calls, pipelines and closed sales


  • Strategic thinking, communication, interpersonal influence, networking, project ownership, and workflow management skills

  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, telephone and PC Skills

  • Experience selling within treasury management or procurement, including:

  • Cash Conversion Cycle

  • Procure to Pay process

  • Accounts Payable

  • Invoice Management

  • Payment Automation

  • Corporate travel & expense management

  • Previous Experience selling web-based technology solutions

  • Consumer or Small Business Card product experience

  • Ability to work autonomously to find qualified leads and transition to sales

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of business to business sales experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 Years of experience selling commercial card product

Job Summary: Manage Regional Sales Representatives' (RSRs) activities within the Midwest territories (Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas and Western Ohio) Essential Duties: * Review weekly activity reports submitted by RSRs. * Approve expense reports for RSRs. * Attend and generate sales at various Trade Shows, Educational Courses and sales events. * Maintain high level of product knowledge, including competitive products. * Coach RSRs on product knowledge and company sales platform / approach. * Co-travel with RSRs and rate performance on Co-Travel Report. * Set goals for RSRs and ensure assigned region meets monthly, quarterly and annual sales growth. * Maintain relationships with all key customers within assigned region. * Uphold all Company policies and procedures. * Sales Manager should be based in a large metropolitan area within this region. Job Requirements Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's Degree required * 2+ years leading high functioning/performing sales teams, in multiple locations, with documented performance history PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: * Training certification in the dental field is preferred. * High level of technical and material knowledge of dental products; especially dental implants. * Medical device manufacturer experience preferred * Prefer 5+ years' experience with a business that manufactures, sells and distributes its own product(s). OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Must have highly developed interpersonal skills. * Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively with technical staff, customers, subordinates, and other key members in the company at the same time maintain a high level of professionalism. * Must possess strong computer skills being well versed in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Must have a mechanical inclination and ability to understand the interrelationship of products. * Ability to maintain a sense of urgency at all times. * Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, marketing literature, manufacturing schedules, new product introduction plans, and customer feedback.
