Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Services has overall responsibility for planning, development, and execution of Meriwest's Business Services Department. This role leads all aspects of the Business Services Department, including: business loan origination and pipeline management; processing and underwriting; servicing and portfolio management; and treasury (cash) management services. The VP, Business Services will be accountable for growth of new and existing business relationships in the small business to middle market space, asset quality, and departmental profitability, and product/ service expansion. This leader will drive the Business Services team by instilling a passion and commitment to delivering a frictionless experience for our members and team members.
The Vice President of Business Services will possess a strong understanding of commercial lending services and practices, regulatory compliance, and risk management, along with expert knowledge of CRE, SBA and C&I lending. The VP, Business Services will also serve as the Chair of Loan Committee, lead strategic projects, and actively participate in ALCO and other designated committees as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership: Manage, lead and coach the Business Services Department by developing a culture of success, and a long-term business strategy for the department. Drive operational and business efficiencies for Business Services through all channels, while maximizing revenue streams and profit.
Growth: Execute plans to maximize revenue in the Business Services Department and across Meriwest.
Risk Management: Manage loan level, concentration level and portfolio level risk through proper risk mitigation strategies, consistent loan reviews, and asset protection strategies.
Strategy: Lead long-term business planning, annual business plan development, and roadmap creation related to Business Services. Evaluate and advise on the impact of planning, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.
Networking: Network with industry-related entities to understand trends, develop loan participation partners, and obtain opportunities for partnerships and expansion.
Compliance: Ensure the business unit is compliant with regulatory standards and company policies, including all processes, loan and file documentation, participation agreements, and other contractual agreements.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Minimum Qualifications
Eight or more years of experience in a financial institution in a commercial lending manager (or equivalent) capacity dealing with Commercial and SBA loans, and Treasury Management.
Formal Commercial Credit Training, or skills commensurate with this level of knowledge.
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree in the related discipline preferred.
Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing, with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of internal and external personnel.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements including cash flow and collateral analysis and interest and payment calculations.
Thorough knowledge of the SBA lending business, the legal aspects of related financial products and services, bylaws and regulations that apply to federally chartered credit unions.
Ability to read, understand, and analyze complex tax returns for the purposes of determining the qualifications of a potential borrower.
Thorough understanding of loan programs, credit reports, personal and business financials, audit, and loan default process.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The ability to motivate or influence inside or outside senior level personnel is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequent material presentations and a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.

The VP, Business Services position is a Grade 16.
In situations where a more qualified candidate may possess additional experience, there is potential for this role to evolve into a Chief Commercial Lending Officer (CCLO) position, which is classified as Grade 17. The salary range for the Chief Commercial Lending Officer (CCLO) position is $172,504.75 to $287,507.92.
