About the Opportunity

This position will oversee two global finance sub-functions each with its own leader: Business Development & Strategy and Financial Planning & Analysis. Business Development & Strategy supports Driscoll's strategic planning process and provides targeted support for strategic projects, business development initiatives including mergers and acquisitions activity as applicable and the development of business intelligence capabilities. Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for managing recurring processes such as the annual operating plan, annual valuation, quarterly forecasting, capital expenditure management and global management reporting.

Today Driscoll's breeds, grows and markets fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries while partnering with independent farmers around the world to produce berries primarily from Driscoll's patented berry varieties.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the CEO, CFO, and Business Unit executives to ensure that financial and strategic goals are attained

  • Support business priorities with valued-added analysis and deep financial insights

  • Provide decision support or lead the assessment of Business Development initiatives including potential mergers and acquisitions, global expansion opportunities and the evaluation of new technologies and programs

  • Lead high-impact initiatives with a Global reach, such as helping to ensure the sustainability of the Company's independent grower-based Enterprise Business Model

  • Lead the Annual Operating Planning process, the Capital Expenditure management process, the quarterly forecasting process and the preparation of global financial reports for the CEO, the Executive Team (ET) and the Board of Directors

  • Lead the triennial Strategic Planning process and related activities

  • Drive business intelligence (BI) capabilities across the organization, including the execution and maintenance of a Balanced Scorecard. Leverage insights from this platform to provide data-driven decision support to the CEO and ET

  • Develop a Global Business Planning calendar and manage and monitor expectations associated with the deliverables in collaboration with Global and Business Unit finance leaders

  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in the development, review and finalization of the quarterly Board of Directors materials and make presentations to the Board as needed

  • Lead the annual independent valuation of the Company performed by Duff & Phelps

  • Support the annual independent audit led by the Chief Accounting Officer and performed by PwC

  • Domestic and international travel required up to 15%

  • Represents Driscoll's in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers and the business community at large

Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience

  • 5+ years of leading management-level team members

  • Management experience at a consumer goods company

  • Values based management style that has mastered the art of active listening, high emotional intelligence, curiosity and the confidence to have a sense of humility.

  • An excellent academic foundation that includes a bachelor's degree in a relevant field

General Summary This position is responsible for managing and providing comprehensive financial analysis and support to various business functions and Executive Management, which is consistent with the overall strategic growth of the company and aligned with creating value for shareholders. Essential Job Accountabilities 1. Lead, coordinate and manage operational and functional planning, budgeting and forecasting to facilitate effective annual budget development, interim and long-term strategic forecasts in a manner consistent with Company's policies and procedures 2. Lead, coordinate and manage the financial analysis processes for the annual capital expenditure (Capex) budget, asset optimization and other major capital decisions of the company in a manner consistent with the Company's policies and procedures 3. Serve as a key strategic resource to the Executive Team and business unit leaders on a full range of corporate finance activities, including financial analysis, business analysis and strategy analysis in a manner consistent with the Company's policies and procedures 4. Provide financial support and oversight to short and long range financial planning, quarterly forecast cycles and sensitivity analyses that assess the viability of existing operations with consideration for the impact to annual financial forecast, bank covenant compliance and operational metrics 5. Maintain short & long term strategic planning and valuation models in Hyperion Strategic Finance to support development and updates for the annual financial forecast. 6. Manage the preparation of the Board of Directors financial package to provide relevant and timely information in support of the executive management 7. Maintain a communications strategy to inform Executive Level Management on actual financial results, including milestone progress and adherence to approved budgets, as well as overall Key Performance Indicators 8. Collaborate with Group and Regional Controllers to ensure consistent, balanced, data-driven business & financial plans which accurately inform Executive Management's decisions on resource allocation and performance management 9.
