About the Role
The VP of Brand, Marketing, and Communications will own the design and development of 1871's marcom strategy. This person will lead a team to implement holistic and forward-thinking marketing and communications plans that will position 1871 as an industry leader and expand our share of voice. He or she will serve as a key player in telling the story of 1871, its member companies, and the role of our community in the technology ecosystem -- in Chicago and beyond.
Leadership and people growth: provide vision, direction, and mentorship in order to develop the team, invigorate creative thinking, and produce exceptional outcomes
Drive brand awareness and customer acquisition across all channels, including via brand partnerships, experiential marketing, and emerging technologies
Provide critical support in developing thought leadership strategies for 1871, its executives, and member companies
Drive alignment between 1871's internal departments, member companies, and other constituents in order to generate buzz and visibility
Oversee content strategy and implementation across all digital properties
Oversee PR strategy and media activities
Source and facilitate media partnerships
Oversee website and SEO strategy
Oversee all creative assets, online and off (includes video, photo, graphic design, and copy)
Design and implement email communications
Design and implement marketing/sales automation processes, including drip campaigns, workflow logic, and list segmentation
Oversee creation of marketing collateral and promotional items
Oversee design and production of the Annual Report
Schedule photography, videography, and social media coverage for events and other activities
Build and manage marketing budget
Manage all projects across the communications team, which includes leading meetings, goal setting, and task tracking
