The VP of Account Operations is responsible for achieving revenue objectives through client engagement and process leadership. She/he will be responsible for overall execution of account management processes while providing cross-functional, strategic direction for client success, growth and retention. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to utilize their proven operational and people skills to significantly contribute to the overall corporate strategy and company success. This position will be a cooperative partner across all functional departments focused on increasing productivity, planning and executing strategic initiatives and overseeing program management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Proactively engage with clients to ensure core deliverables are being met, identify potential gaps and make improvements where needed.

  • Enhance/Develop scalable and repeatable processes to create internal efficiencies and maximize available resources.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the account management team and other key stakeholders throughout the organization.

  • Oversee strategic business initiatives and projects from planning through successful execution in collaboration with functional leaders.

  • Define and lead retention, margin enhancement and expansion strategies.

  • Drive collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet and exceed business objectives and improve customer experience.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop long-term/multi-year growth strategy.

  • Run select cross-functional projects with goals ranging from assessing progress, achieving goals, and motivating individuals to achieve their goals.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and complete on-boarding of new clients/business follows Hub Group standards.

  • Drive service enhancements by working with operational management and business partners.

  • Design and deploy internal systems and business metric dashboards to drive execution, accountability, and scalability.

  • Work with Account Leadership to drive volume growth and margin enhancement.

  • Support pre-sales activities including demos, opportunity assessments and discussions with the client's management.

  • Support sales staff to identify, qualify, progress and close potential new business opportunities from new and current accounts.

  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree

  • Five or more years of operations and management experience in transportation/logistics, preferably in the intermodal sector

  • Excellent oral communication, written communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as proven analytical ability

  • Ability to maintain good balance of strategic vision and tactical implementation.

  • Exemplary communication skills and the ability to effectively interact and influence at all levels.

  • Experience with Collections and Accounting processes.

  • Acute analytical skills and the ability to engage appropriate colleagues to solve problems quickly and accurately.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Proven record of operational excellence with the ability to bring clarity to complex and ambiguous situations to drive understanding and proper execution.

  • Proven success establishing strong relationships and working across all functions within the organization.

  • Experience with complex data analysis and leveraging technology and systems to turn data into action.

  • Highly effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver targeted results.

  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams through change management.

  • Excellent communication, project management and executive presentation skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office software.

  • Occasional travel will be required
