About this position

Assures a supportive and energizing environment where community members can volunteer their time and talents in meaningful opportunities thereby creating a successful volunteer program supporting customers, families, and staff. The Volunteer Coordinator enhances and expands on hospital services by assessing volunteer applicants, providing an interview and initial assessment. With the direction of the Director, provides orientation and training opportunities when needed. The Volunteer Coordinator with Director, supervises and evaluates the program and its participants. The Volunteer Coordinator assists the Director with recruitment, recognition, and program development while providing a wide variety of administrative functions within the department and within the scope of assigned authority. To provide a safe environment that will best provide a mutually beneficial experience for the volunteer and the recipient of their services while supporting the mission and vision of North Memorial.

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, human resources or other applicable field strongly preferred or other post-secondary education.

  • Certificate in Volunteer Management preferred.

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Volgistics, Volunteer Works or other volunteer database software preferred.

  • Ability to provide training to volunteers individually and in a group setting and to speak to groups.

  • Demonstrated public relations and organizational skills.

  • Computer literacy is required, including experience with Windows applications.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Licensure/Certification
