VIEW JOBS 2/24/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-24T00:00 Mentoring transforms lives: College Mentors for Kids connects kids with college students through weekly on-campus activities that inspire growth, confidence, and brighter futures. Through weekly afterschool programs that take place on a college campus, 1st through 6th graders in the community are paired one-on-one with a college student mentor; together they participate in activities focused on higher education and careers, culture and diversity, and community service. Our innovative program focuses on improving the likelihood that elementary school youth living in poverty will achieve their optimum potential while providing high-quality service and leadership opportunities for college students. We currently serve 2,700 kids and 3,300 college students on 32 campuses in 9 states, and the program is working. After more than 20 years of inspiring kids through mentoring, we have found that 75% of our kids pursued higher education compared with only 51% of their low-income peers. At College Mentors we value the power of mentoring; "awesomeness" in every effort and interaction; devotion to mission, community, and one another; human potential to achieve beyond current circumstances; the exponential impact of the collective (community); and fiscal responsibility. Our ideal candidates will share these values and be hardworking, collaborative, self-motivated, and demonstrate the ability to work independently.
