Volunteers of America recognizes the senior who needs assistance with meal delivery in Ft. Collins, and students in Aurora who have never been to summer camp. We support Denver's homeless veterans who have been underserved, and prepare preschoolers challenged by poverty to be successful in elementary school and beyond. Wherever we go we engage faith, relationship-building, and volunteers to lift-up and support Colorado's most vulnerable citizens.

JOB SUMMARY

Assists in the operations of the AmeriCorps Seniors Program for the Northern Colorado Services Division. This position focuses on the recruitment, placing, follow up, and support of AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers; developing relationships with volunteers and community partners; outreach, public relations, and program marketing; volunteer development, volunteer management, and recording keeping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For Volunteers
  • Recruits, selects, orients, matches with appropriate community service opportunity, trains, monitors to ensure satisfaction and compliance with policies and procedures, supports, and provides recognition.
  • For Partner Agencies (including AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer stations, dining centers and other organizations providing supportive services) -Conducts orientation to Volunteers of America and program guidelines and services, completes site visits and evaluation, provides technical assistance, problem solves, collaborates on new services, and ensures compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Data entry and maintenance of all computerized records in accordance with program guidelines, including monthly hours of volunteer service and volunteer station information.

  • Maintains records, required for the programs, including client/volunteer files, log sheets, supplies/materials inventory, etc.

  • Participates in community outreach and public relations, including speaking engagements, posting ads, writing articles, attending community meetings, producing newsletters, etc. with a specific focus on selling the volunteer experience to potential volunteers.

  • Assists in planning and coordinating recognition events, trainings, new services and/or delivery systems, and fundraising events.

  • Participates in program planning, development, re-design, and evaluation, goal setting, grant writing, program reporting, etc., including participation on the AmeriCorps Seniors Advisory Team.

  • Maintains positive communication with volunteer stations, partner agencies, volunteers, clients, and other partners in the community.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in human services or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum one-year related experience in volunteer management, program development, recruitment, sales, marketing, and/or senior services.

  • Valid Colorado driver's license and proof of insurance. Provides and maintains a reliable mode of transportation for all scheduled shifts and have the ability to drive safely in all types of inclement weather.

  • This position requires a National Sex Offender Public Website check, criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, Federal Bureau of Investigations check, and Colorado Adult Protective Services check. This position has recurring access to vulnerable populations and as such, is subject the background check requirement of the AmeriCorps. Offers of employment are contingent upon the results of these checks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, MS Office Suites, Salesforce or other database system, and social media applications

  • Volunteer experience, or experience in volunteer management.

  • Knowledge of best practices and/or current trends in volunteer recruitment, engagement, and/or management.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated effective communications skills, both written and verbal.

  • Good organization and planning skills

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, representatives of other organizations, and members of the community.

  • Ability to train, direct and support volunteers.

  • Experience with computer and office equipment, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel and Word.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. This job requires in-home visits; conditions in client homes vary. Adherence to agency policies regarding home visits is critical. Frequent driving required for outreach, partner organization visits, totaling approximately 3 hours per week throughout Larimer County.

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS

  • Full time 40 hrs./week with a 30- or 60-minute lunch.

  • Some flexibility with hours and work-from-home options possible, as programmatic needs allow.

  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts occur for program and volunteer needs.

PAY

$19.06-$21.50/ Hourly
