Description

YWCA Dayton, a 24 hours organization dedicated to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women, seeks an energetic, dedicated person to be an integral part of our team. As a non-exempt level position, the Volunteer & Donations Coordinator is passionate about "Making a Difference" in the lives of all within our community. This position is mission oriented and expected to work at least 40 hours weekly with some evenings and weekend activities. As part of the Mission, Brand, and Programs team, the Volunteer & Donations Coordinator reports to the Director of Development & Communications and is responsible for building and maintaining relationships that benefit YWCA Dayton through volunteerism, donation support, and brand awareness.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Volunteer & Donations Coordinator is responsible for assessing & identifying the need for volunteers to enhance program and service delivery and then recruits, trains & manages program volunteers to fill this need; they will develop and implement effective strategies to engage, retain & reward program volunteers and positions them for further agency engagement; oversee program volunteer policies and procedures and reports and organizes records effectively; manages in-kind (physical) donation logistics, including: overseeing policies, processes and protocols; needs assessments; inventories; compliance with nonprofit, tax, public health and other guidelines; gift acknowledgment; storage and organization; community partner and program relationships; and works with the business office/development team for record-keeping; plan and implement annual donation drive events, including Back to School Wish List and Holiday Wish List; day-to-day operational management of Hope's Closet, including: staff and volunteer supervision; customer care; donation needs assessments, processing, inventories and goal attainment; setting standards for security and loss prevention; and visual merchandising; expand and manage a comprehensive community outreach plan to disseminate resource and agency information and ensures YW is regularly represented at community events, activities, informational fairs, organization meetings, etc. Trains and positions staff and the Association as subject matter experts in mission and program areas, identifying and securing opportunities for community handouts, trainings, and speaking and presentation engagements; assist with resource center and community outreach strategy; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience volunteer coordination and donations in nonprofit agencies, particularly social services; demonstrated experience implementing a volunteer strategy and/or managing diverse groups; project management experience; customer service excellence and group management skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Office and adept at Internet usage. Experience managing agency social media accounts and familiarity with WordPress and VolunteerMatch preferred; Raiser's Edge experience desired; Bachelor degree in communications, public relations, marketing, organizational development and/or nonprofit management or similar field required; 5-7 years experience in lieu of degree.

  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated conflict resolution skills; proactive, self-starter; able to confidently drive the program independently; ability to manage time, prioritize, and work well with groups; willingness to support the mission and vision of YWCA Dayton and ability to convey its importance both verbally and in writing; comfort and agility in community engagement and strong relationship-building skills; must be able to work independently and be an enthusiastic self-starter, who is intelligent, highly creative, and innovative in designing and planning; hard-working, punctual, detail-oriented, and personable, with strong organizational skills.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY:

The YWCA Dayton's Compensation Philosophy to review positions annually to determine fair compensation and benefits built on the principles of fairness, performance and market competitiveness. This position is in house only Monday

  • Friday (occasional evening and weekends may be required) and not remote at this time. YWCA Dayton operates 24/7 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts, standard operation hours are 8:00am
