Job Description

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Volunteer Services department is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation, scheduling, management, and recognition of more than 1,100 community adult and college student volunteers annually. The department develops and supports meaningful roles for volunteers that will enhance the experience for patients and visitors at University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, Harding Hospital, Brain & Spine Hospital, University Hospital East, and Ambulatory sites.

This position supports the implementation and coordination of projects and services that promote a positive volunteer experience and volunteer satisfaction. A key member of the Volunteer Services team, this position collaborates with department staff on projects including applicant tracking, initial and on-going compliance, communication and recognition.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree

Required Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Communications, Social Services or related; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience, Training, and other Qualifications Required or Desired: - Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse volunteer force and internal and external customers required.

  • Experience in database utilization to include data input, on-going management, and reporting required.

  • Experience with project planning and implementation desired.

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures and experience with Microsoft Office required.

The Foundation Board is composed of nearly 70 volunteer leaders who care deeply about the impact of philanthropy at Ohio State and believe in our vision of being the model 21st-centruty public, land-grant institution. The Senior Associate interacts regularly and builds strong relationships with Foundation Board directors and Advancement leadership; develops individual board director engagement strategies and facilitates accompanying engagement opportunities; collaborates with Advancement colleagues, volunteer managers, and academic leaders to enhance the volunteer culture and build a leadership volunteer pipeline; develops and executes a comprehensive plan to engage Lifetime Directors of the board; serves as manager of the board's student delegates; and manages day-to-day logistics for board operations and semi-annual board meetings.</p><p>Reporting to the Director, Foundation Board and Volunteer Experience, the Senior Associate will operate with a high degree of independence. They must be able to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once and have high attention to detail, creativity, time management, and organizational skills.
