Job Description

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Volunteer Services department is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation, scheduling, management, and recognition of more than 1,100 community adult and college student volunteers annually. The department develops and supports meaningful roles for volunteers that will enhance the experience for patients and visitors at University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, Harding Hospital, Brain & Spine Hospital, University Hospital East, and Ambulatory sites.

This position supports the implementation and coordination of projects and services that promote a positive volunteer experience and volunteer satisfaction. A key member of the Volunteer Services team, this position collaborates with department staff on projects including applicant tracking, initial and on-going compliance, communication and recognition.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree

Required Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Communications, Social Services or related; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience, Training, and other Qualifications Required or Desired: - Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse volunteer force and internal and external customers required.

  • Experience in database utilization to include data input, on-going management, and reporting required.

  • Experience with project planning and implementation desired.

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures and experience with Microsoft Office required.

This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.</p><p>AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.</p><p>What will you do?</p><p>The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.</p><ul><li>Typically serve Tuesday</li></ul><ul><li>Saturday to support work on the build site.</li></ul><ul><li><p>Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.</p></li><li><p>Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.</p></li><li><p>Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.</p></li><li><p>Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.</p></li></ul><p>This position will focus on brand management, neighborhood revitalization, virtual / digital systems and platforms and volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.</p><p>Where will you serve?</p><p>Come explore the heart of Ohio through serving at Habitat for Humanity MidOhio as we celebrate 20 years of AmeriCorps service!</p><p>No matter a person's interest, there is always something to do and see in our area. Working with up to 4,000 volunteers each year, we have a three-county service area and concentrate our efforts in specific neighborhoods through new construction, rehabilitations, repairs, and community development. Our AmeriCorps members will serve in various roles of construction leadership and logistics, volunteer services, homeowner services, and resource development.
