Louis, MO is looking for an individual who would like to apply their experience, expertise and skills and ability to fill our Volunteer Coordinator position. This is a full-time exempt position that comes with a great benefits package which includes medical, dental, and life insurance, 13 paid holidays per year, vacation time, sick time, personal time and is eligible for participation in the company funded pension plan after one year of service.

This position is responsible for assisting Midland units in the recruitment and integration of volunteers for Division events, projects, programs and services. Primary focus of this position is to assist the Volunteer Manager with Divisional volunteer activities to increase volunteerism by raising community awareness and assisting Army units in developing meaningful and effective volunteer opportunities.

Position will provide routine support for volunteer programs. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Assist Volunteer Manager with the following:

a. Provide comprehensive oversight of volunteer recruitment and management policies and procedures.

Implement and comply with territorial volunteer management policies. Ensure THQ and DHQ volunteer materials, policies and procedures are available and being used by our units to increase volunteerism. Use best practices research to establish annual goals and objectives for the advancement of the volunteer program throughout the Division.

b. Develop, promote, implement and maintain a unified/centralized volunteer database.

c. Develop, promote, implement and maintain a comprehensive catalog of volunteer opportunities. Work in collaboration with Corps and program locations to determine volunteer needs for programs and social services department throughout the year.

d. Develop and implement a continuous strategy for organizational (corporate and community) outreach and continuous volunteer involvement. Represent The Salvation Army and promote volunteer opportunities at various events.

e. Manage 100% volunteer participation (recruitment and scheduling) for Red Kettles.

f. Work in collaboration with various staff and committees to determine volunteer needs for each event and project throughout the year.

Recruit, organize and integrate volunteers upon request to manage and staff various projects and events. Attend events and assist with projects as needed.

g. Develop and implement a volunteer training and retention program to ensure volunteers are prepared and equipped to complete their job assignments successfully.

h. Coordinate and support volunteer recruitment activities in the various Corps to include providing technical consultative support. Provide ongoing training to corps and program staff who manage volunteers on volunteer management best practices.

i. Use best practices research and Dallas "Echelon" model to assist in developing and implementing a similar framework for Midland.

j. Ensure volunteers are acknowledged in a timely manner.

k. Monitor and report data and statistics as requested by The Salvation Army and/or United Way of Greater St. Louis.

2.Comply with territorial volunteer management policies to include the divisional use of Territorial Volunteer Database (Volunteer Impact), Safe From Harm procedures and training, and territorial background screening, Implement and comply with MVR checks and policies for the Division volunteer resources.

3.Develop and maintain volunteer records, matching skills and interests with project needs. Ensure that volunteer records in the territorial volunteer management database, to include position descriptions, are updated, current, and reflect the work at local units.

4.Ensure United Way volunteer certification is applied for and updated annually.

5.Maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe From Harm guidelines.

6.Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner, courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients, respect of others' property and person, and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in management, business, public relations or related area preferred and three (3) years related work experience. Will consider combination of education and experience.

A Volunteer Administration certification and Multi-site organization experience are a plus.

Must be professional, personable and works well with people. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Requires valid driver's licenses, pass TSA MVR check and reliable transportation. Must have working knowledge and skill in computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail. Experience with donor database software is a plus.

Must be a team player, self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to work under pressure and deadlines especially during the Tree of Lights campaign. Able to work additional hours as needed (i.e. during the Tree of Lights campaign).

The Salvation Army, as a religious organization, is exempt from participation in federal and state unemployment insurance programs.

Key Responsibilities Coordination of Proposal and Presentation Production Process * Creates presentations for interviews with InDesign, PowerPoint and other marketing tools. * Develops written materials including brochures, project lists, data sheets and resumes, often performing advanced functions on the CRM databases * Creates and maintains proposal graphics in Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator or PowerPoint * Updates and maintains finished project and employee photography * Manages the project qualification and proposal process including: coordinating the collection of project-specific information and developing proposal content and other requirements to meet RFP guidelines and target assignment dates * Assists in strategy development for project pursuits including client research, messaging, and design * Leads final proposal production including printing, binding, mailing, etc. Provides Expertise in Marketing Tools and Graphics * Maintains CRM database including maintenance and data integrity of opportunities, projects, employees, clients, text library, project references and contacts along with mailing and special events information * Conducts CRM database searches and reporting (monthly status reports, resume and project updaters, project set-up, marketing opportunities and others). * Gathers information regarding McCarthy projects and employees to include in proposal content. * Coordinates events including trade shows/conferences, client appreciation events, golf tournaments and community service projects. * Assists with public relations activities including creation of press releases and submittal of both internal and external awards for McCarthy's projects and people. * Develops posts for social media outlets and writes stories for company Intranet site. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, Graphic Design or a related field required. * 3+ years of marketing experience, preferably in the construction industry. * Previous experience preparing technical documents, including development of graphics to support messaging. * Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software, especially InDesign. * Desktop proficiency in all Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Familiarity with CRM database management a plus.
