This position will develop, plan and organize volunteer activities that raise awareness, fundraise, and engage volunteers, donors and business partners to support Mercy Housing's operations in the Sacramento Area. Work collaboratively with resident services staff across the region to assist in matching volunteers to site-based volunteer opportunities. Provide project and fundraising support to the regional philanthropy team for operations and the team's fundraising activities.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. We encourage candidates with lived experience to apply.

Pay: $56,000-72,000/salary DOE

Duties:

  • Supports the philanthropy department's overall fundraising, event and volunteer activities in the region and collaborates with resident services site staff on volunteer opportunities, volunteer engagement and volunteer activities, all of which; serve to create added visibility, provide opportunities for property-based philanthropy, and serve as cultivation activities.
  • Create and lead event and volunteer activities in regional areas leading to increased donor engagement and revenue for Mercy's mission.
  • Represent Mercy Housing at Public speaking engagements for various external audiences including volunteers, donors, sponsors, employee giving and volunteer events with corporate partners, prospects, collaborative partners, events with local and national elected officials, etc.
  • Follow Mercy Housing's volunteer management strategy, including guidelines, processes, training, and recognition programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of planning, coordination of events and volunteer projects in a non-profit related field. Knowledge of constituency and fund development principles and procedures, basic budget management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization.

  • Strategic thinker, results, and solution oriented, flexible, and is good a problem-solver with the ability to multi-task. Track and meet deadlines effectively with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Motivate and inspire others, passion for helping others achieve success. Excellent relationship building skills to develop and strengthen volunteer partnerships and relationships with community partners, corporate partners and individual volunteers. Communicate clearly and relate to diverse individuals and groups.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team or committee and to successfully relate to employees, volunteers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and the ability to manage details and organizations of a solid volunteer engagement plan. Extremely well organized.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to accomplish team goals. Travel throughout the region with occasional nights away from home.
  • Strong sales, written and verbal communication skills to engage new volunteers in Mercy Housing.
  • Proficiencies with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, plus Publisher or other Microsoft compatible design programs (Microsoft Project and Raiser's Edge knowledge preferred). Learn and adapt new social networking tools to enhance program outcomes and initiatives.
  • Treat a variety of people with respect and compassion.
  • Represent Mercy Housing, Inc. in a professional manner at all times.
  • Understand and support the mission and values of Mercy Housing.
