Job Description Volunteer Coordinator Location San Diego CA Schedule Full time evenings & weekends required Reports to Director of Youth Programs Compensation 19 22 per hour Classification Full time Non exempt Benefits Eligible for health benefits including medical dental vision and life insuranceVacation and sick pay and 18 paid company holidays and office closure daysEmployer sponsored 403b retirement planCell phone stipendMonthly and quarterly all staff professional development and team building opportunitiesBeautiful garden work environmentCulture of learning care and communityScope of Work The Volunteer Coordinator recruits trains places stewards and recognizes over 300 volunteers and interns in multiple positions annually Programs include our Childrens Garden and Nutrition Education Program High School Leadership Programs adult and youth cooking and gardening classes special events and more The Volunteer Coordinator also assists with programmatic tasks and community outreach As an organization rooted in community this role requires active participation in anti racist work and a commitment to equity and inclusion ESSENTIAL DUTIES this is not an exhaustive list of duties Volunteer and Intern Management Recruit coordinate and support volunteers and interns for Olivewoods youth adult family gardens operations and programsPromote volunteer positions activities and projects through tabling presentations flyers and moreSupport internship program coordinate the screening training scheduling and recognition of volunteers and interns for programs garden work office support and special eventsWork with Olivewood team to develop and update volunteer and intern position descriptions program policies and procedures as neededOutreach to local universities businesses and other sources of volunteers for partnership opportunitiesCollaborate with high school program team to support high school partnerships and student recruitmentOversee evaluation of volunteers and interns including evaluating volunteerintern needs tracking hours and volunteer contributions developing and disseminating surveys andor completing exit interviewsGuide volunteers through the application process including screening interview reference checks background checks placement orientation and recognitionCollaborate with Program and Development teams to design and implement volunteer retention and recognition strategies including annual Volunteer Appreciation event and volunteer e newsletterAct as a liaison between volunteers and staff; including identifying volunteer needs problem solving delivering feedback and training staff on proper volunteerintern supervision Kitchenista Support Collaborate with Kitchenista Program Manager to engage and recruit Kitchensitas for volunteer activities related to events and programsSupport Kitchenista Program Manager as needed with engagement opportunities in the community EventProgram Support & Community Engagement Provide programmatic support as needed; including occasionally teaching or assisting with lessonsAssist with planning and coordination of Special Events and workshops such as the Seedling Soire Day of Play and Open GardensCollaborate with the respective teams to recruit place train and manage volunteers for annual Seedling Soire and Day of PlaySchedule organize and staff booths for community eventsRepresent Olivewood Gardens in the community at professional and community eventsParticipate in Olivewood staff meetings and activities EducationExperience 2 years related experience andor education in the fields of volunteer management program coordination education health agriculture culinary arts;
